Keepper Family On Lebanon Midway Winners Circle While Cheevers Takes Modified Checkers

Lebanon,Mo.-Despite over 9 inches of rain last week and add another 3 or more Thursday Night,racing action got back underway Friday Night at the Lebanon MidwaySpeedway as the name Keepper was being echoed on the PA System as Sundance Keepper held off repeated challanges from point leader Ben Solberg in FactoryStock action and Elijah Keepper found himself in the right place at the right time to grab his first win in the PureStock division.

Central Bank FactoryStock action saw points runner-up Tyson Troutman and Ted Welschmeyer bring the field to the green flag.Troutman grabbed the opening lead but 3 wide action was going to be the norm all night long.With Troutman setting a quick pace,Ted Welschmeyer moved to the outside groove and would lead lap 2 with Troutman,Tim Jones and 6th starting Sundance Keepper all mixing it up.Troutman would grab the lead back on lap 3 as Welschmeyer and Keepper battled side by side.Keepper took the lead on lap 5 with a smooth high move pass around Troutman as Tim Jones was racing hard with Welschmeyer.Current point leader Ben Solberg was caught in traffic after starting 12th tonight.The only caution waved on lap 8 as runner-up Troutman got sideways and spun in turn 4 bunching the field up as Jones recieved some minor damage to his car and kept going.On the restart,Keepper broke away as Solberg had moved around Jones for second place and began his move to the lead.For the next 5 laps,Solberg tried several times to take the lead working the inside groove,but Keepper kept a strong high groove and held off the challanges to grab his second win of the season with Solberg,Jones,former champion Dylan Keepper and Tim Riffle completing the top 5.

The PureStock feature saw lots of action as Brandon Knudtson and Danile Glenn brought the field to the green.Knudtson would lead lap 1 with Matt Young,Glenn,Robert Doublin,Elijah Keepper and Shorty Doublin following.Knudtson's car came to a slow halt on the frontstretch with problems as Young moved to the lead.The Red Flag waved as Doug Crider driving the Y station wagon got on its side in a 3 car battle as Chad Hufft who was driving point leader Kory Barker's car also got involved.Crider was able to walk away under his own.On the restart,the first year driver Young was holding off Robert Doublin's challanges as Elijah Keepper in the Sherriff's car was lurking in third.Shorty Doublin's strong march forward ended with problems on lap 5 as Matt Young was looking for his first win.On lap 6,Young's chance for victory ended with a right rear flat tire as it happen with Doublin trying to take the lead.When Young slowed-up Doublin also slowed as Keepper shot around both drivers to take the lead.From there Robert Doublin tried several times but fell short of the pass as Keepper takes his first win of the season with R.Doublin,Daniel Glenn,Brian Warner and Adam Lowrance completing the top 5.

Energy Company Modified action saw hotshoe Colt Cheevers fresh off his 500 to win event here 2 weeks ago bring the field to the green flag along with Eric Tinderholt.Cheevers took the opening lead with Tinderholt following close behind.With Cheevers leading and Tinderholt following close behind,Mike Streigel was trying the top groove while running third as points runner-up Tyler Brown and Jamie Barker followed.The top 5 stayed this away as current point leader Michael Stake was moving from 11th all the way to 6th in 4 short laps.On lap 8,contact between Brown and Streigel and Brown caused Brown to cut down a tire just as the caution waved for Michael Jones spin.Brown restarted at the rear as Cheevers and Tinderholt kept the field quickly paced.Jerry Lankton was quietly moving through the field using the top groove and picked his way to third place by lap 12.Point leader Stake got caught-up in an incident restarting at the rear.With drivers shuffling spots in the last few laps,the only thing that stayed the same was Cheevers and Tinderholt in the top 2 as wild action was up for grabs in third place.Lankton was riding the top groove as Tyler Brown had moved back to the front pack.At the finish Cheevers grabbed his 4th feature at Midway this season with Tinderholt,Brown,Lankton and Ted Ballinger completing the top 5.

Coldwell Banker StreetStock action saw current point leader Joe Francis and Brandon Waters start the race quickly as Francis took the opening lead with Brandon Waters and Billy Waters following.Brandon Waters kept giving Francis a lot of heat during the early part of the feature until lap 6 when Waters moved up the track to get a run on the high side,it didn't work out and Waters lost a few car lengths.Francis would go on to grab the win as Brandon Waters,Rodney Yost who started 11th tonight followed by Billy Waters and Monk Barker completed the top 5.

Rocky Ridge Sportsman action saw defending track champion Ben Newell grab the opening lead and never looked back to take the win and get back into the top of the point standings.Donnie Betts withstood late race charges from Bradley McDowell to take home the runner-up spot as McDowell,Jamie Petty and Sam Petty completed the top 5.

MidWest Modz action saw Rich Reynolds grab the lead on the opening lap and hold off repeated challanges from veteran Earl Muilenburg to take his second win of the season as James Ellis and Shane Bias followed.

Action continues Friday night with the chase for the championship as FactoryStocks,B-Modifieds,PureStocks,StreetStocks,Sportsman and MidWest Modz compete in action.

The Speedway will also be holding kids bike races at intermission for all kids ages 10 and Under.bring your bike and helmet as boys and girls all compete.
Gates open at 5 with hotlaps at 7:05 and racing at 8PM sharp.
