The Mike Ward Racing, Mike Myers Construction, Nashville North, Moweaqua Motors, Custom Auto Body sponsored #7m Crate Modified with driver Kevin Moffett gets win at Fayette County Speedway in Brownstown, IL, on May 19th.

The adventure began on April 14th after taking the lead on lap 4 in the feature and leading comfortably, even with an engine that wasn’t running clean. There was a caution and the motor fell on its face, which come to find out was a fuel pump failure, the 7m had to pull off.

Then on Monday the 17th an auto accident changed the ability of the team to focus. At 8:50am Sandy Moffett, the wife of driver Kevin Moffett and head mud scraper,( Charlie is always trying to get her to clean his water truck or whatever else he’s driving ), cleaner, tear-off maintainer, cheerleader, feeder, and all of the other important things that get done unnoticed, was involved in an accident. Luckily a State Trooper had to return home to pick up his jacket that morning and saw the smoke and dust from the accident. When he arrived Sandy’s car was smoking and he cut the seatbelt and pulled her out of the car. Shortly after, the car went up in flames. The other vehicle had flipped and they were rushed off to the hospital.

Sandy had multiple fractures in her right leg, 1 vertebrae in her neck, a rib, and a deep cut below her knee. She went into surgery at 5pm and came out after 3 plates, many screws at 9:40pm with a good report.

Then she got to come home on the 21st, and if you have been lucky enough to have met her, you will understand that she had her husband going to the track on the 21st. And of course, more fuel problems, topping the night off with a fire in the pits. Wow what a week!

Now lets go to the 28th of April, and the front sight plug in the carb comes loose, and fuel sprays the driver and ends the night. The driver excepts responsibility and they move on.

How about the 5th of May. Not bad, 2nd in the Heat. First start, jump out to the lead. Second start, jump out to the lead. Things have to change, and the front end was banged enough on the third restart to change the toe-in 1 1/4 inches. But still hung on to third.

Finally on the 19th of May, Sandy is back at the track, on crutches, sitting in the truck up against the fence on the backstretch, (thanks to Charlie Depew for that), and the team gets a second again in the Heat. Took the lead on lap 4 in the feature after a side by side battle with Chris Bolyard, and went on to win their first feature. Kevin does have to put a new dash in their truck from Sandy beating on it, but a small price to pay to see her that way. We have got to thank everyone for their prayers and thoughts for Sandy. Special thanks to Charlie and crew.

Hopefully it will be a smooth year from here on out, with many wins to come.
