Gibson City, IL – June 23rd:

Veteran Illinois Dirt Racer, Kevin Weaver, has been sidelined from participating in the annual UMP Summer Nationals Series events with major health concerns. Weaver, known as the “Flatland Flash” in racing circles, has been a long time participant in the summer Hell Tour, winning the series in 2000 driving for Turner Racing of Cullom, IL that season.

The 47 year old has been suffering from recurring chest and neck pains, as well as some blurred vision, for the past several weeks. And, as a result of going to a physician and taking several tests, Weaver has been diagnosed with a blocked artery from his lower heart. He will have surgery completed tomorrow (Thursday the 24th), to have a stint put in the artery, and alleviate the blockage. The surgery will be done at Carle Hospital in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, and he will be kept under care there, overnight.

Kevin wanted all his friends and supporters, and all race fans, to know that he appreciates their concern, and well-wishes, and he looks forward to being able to get back into a race car as soon as possible. However, it has not been determined when that may be, at this point.
