QUESTION: What do you get when you have 50+ kids ages 5-8 in the same place for 3 consecutive days? ANSWER: “KID KART NATIONALS” On July 23-25, 2004 over 50 children between the ages of 5 and 8 will take over the I-55 Raceway for the 2nd Annual Kid Kart Nationals, sponsored for the second year in a row by Bloomsdale Excavating Company in Bloomsdale, Missouri. Over the three day event these children will have a chance to compete against the best kid kart drivers in the Midwest with drivers arriving from and estimated 7 states including Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri. The race weekend festivities will begin at 9am on Friday July 23, 2004 as the trucks and trailers carrying the karts and children arrive to set-up for the weekend and enjoy a free day of practice to ready their karts and drivers for qualifying on Saturday and Racing on Sunday. Over the 3 day weekend these 5-8 year old kids will have a chance to fine tune their individual skills as drivers and to push themselves and their karts to the limit. At capable speeds of over 50 mph these karts compete in restricted and un-restricted classes due to age. This allows these young drivers to learn how to drive before they move up to the faster classes which can reach over 100 mph in a 125cc Shifter Kart. Please come out and watch these young future stars of karting as they compete against some of the best in the mid-west. You will have the opportunity to walk around the pits and speak with the drivers, sponsors and vendors at the event.
