A new event, the King of the Hill Front Row Challenge saw a lot of action and some inspired drives to the front of the field in its inaugural debut. Jason Perry won both his qualifying heat and the King of the Hill main event and took the Front Row Challenge to race for 50% more winnings if he could conquer the A-main starting field. Denny Woodworth set fast time to get the $100 fast time award and used his front row starting spot in the main event to good use. as Jason Perry chose to go to tail end of the field. Woodworth and Justin Reed put on the show at the front of the field as the pulled away to a serious gap back to the rest of the field. Woodworth took the checkered flag one and three quarter seconds ahead of Reed with Jason Perry rallying through the field to claim third ahead of Mark Burgtorf and Joey Gower. Gower and Perry claimed the two KOH qualifying heats. Denny Woodworth made it a very productive night as he also won the Summy Tire and Late Model Trophy Dash Finale over Mark Burgtorf, Justin Reed, Jason Perry and Joey Gower. Woodworth’s total winning for the night was a whopping $1700. Perry picked up an extra $100 by taking the KOH Front Row Challenge and not winning the main event.

Michael Long pretty much dominated the Miller Lite UMP Modified racing action during the King of the Hill Front Row Challenge by taking four checkered flags during the evenings activities. Long, David Wietholder, Justin Reed and Troy Grotz took the KOH heat wins with Long and Reed claiming the KOH Semi-Mains. Long took the win in the final KOH event but declined the Front Row Challenge and started the main event from the pole position. Justin Reed led the first four circuits of the twenty five lap main event but Long managed to get his ill handling car into the lead at lap five and never looked back to take the $500 winners share. Tony Dunker came from the third row to claim the second spot followed by Shawn Deering in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Dave Wietholder in fifth. Steven DeLonjay claimed the thirty five lap Advance Trading River City Rumble for the top twelve in track points. DeLonjay had a dominating performance as he led all thirty five laps and held off Justin Reed to take the win by about one and three quarters second. Tony Dunker scored third followed by Ryan Meyer in fourth and Michael Long in fifth.

It was new comer, Matt Griener of Washington, Iowa taking the win in the feature event but all eyes were on Wes Mayfield as he came from the back not once but twice as he accepted the Front Row Challenge after winning the King of the Hill competition in the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock cars. Mayfield and Terry Houston won the KOH qualifying heats with Mayfield taking the KOH win. Griener started the main event from the third row and blasted into the lead of the main event on lap three. Griener then proceeded to lead the remaining laps but not without challenge as Jason Cook put the pressure on while Wes Mayfield came from the back of the pack. Mayfield worked his way into second on the eighteenth lap and challenged for the lead at the checkered flag. Kevin Tomlinson scored third followed by Jason Cook in fourth and Andrew Griffin in fifth.

Steve Carlin took the King of the Hill win after winning his KOH qualifier along with Michael Larsen. Carlin did not accept the Front Row Challenge but that decision put Carlin and rival Bobby Anders on the front row of the feature event and it was a battle royal to the checkered flag. Carlin jumped into the lead at the drop of the green flag and led the first circuit but Anders snuck by to take the lead on the second lap. Carlin laid chase and just never was able to get by for the lead again as Anders took the win by a little less than one and a half seconds. Travis Booher followed in third, with Jake Powers in fourth and Jim Powell in fifth. Jake Powers scored the $100 bonus for setting fast time in the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock time trials.
