Team Honored with Crew of the Year Award

Rome, Ga. (01/28/20) – Jake Knowles celebrated a banner 2019 season on Saturday night during the annual Crate Racin’ USA Awards Banquet at the Gatlinburg Convention Center in Downtown Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Surrounded by his team, family, friends, and sponsors at the Championship Gala, Knowles was honored as the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion.

“2019 was a year I’ll never forget,” Knowles said. “Thank you to all of our sponsors, our fans, and family for the great support the entire year. It was an awesome year and I’m looking forward to building on that momentum for 2020. I can’t wait to see what this season has in store for our team.”

In 17 events on the tour, Knowles claimed seven victories, earned 14 Top-5 finishes, along with 17 Top-10 performances in his Knowles Race Parts & Bodies No. 66 Phillips Properties/ Josh Roberts Trucking/ Coosa Heating & Cooling/ Longhorn Chassis Late Model.

Rather than a customary Crew Chief of the Year, Knowles honored his entire team with a Crew of the Year award for their dedication to his program. “We couldn’t just recognize a single person, this is a team effort,” Jake commented. “From those who come to the shop a few times a week after their day jobs to those we see on race days, I couldn’t do it without these guys.”

This weekend – January 30 – February 1 – Jake returns to the drivers in a trio of events with the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla. The Winter Nationals features $2,500-to-win events on Thursday and Friday, with a $5,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

“With all of the celebrating behind us now, we’re gearing up for East Bay Raceway Park this weekend,” Knowles added. “I haven’t been to East Bay since 2005. Hopefully we’ll have some luck on our side and can have a strong showing.”
