Front Page News: Kokomo Grand Prix for POWRi/USAC National Midgets canceled by rain, flooding

KOKOMO, Ind. (April 12, 2013)— The Kokomo Grand Prix scheduled for Saturday and Sunday has been cancelled by excessive rain that flooded Kokomo Speedway, leaving the one-third mile track unable to hold the co-sanctioned event featuring the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and USAC Mopar National Dirt Series.

“We hate to pull the plug,” the race organizer O’Connor family admits, “but we have absolutely no choice under the circumstances. We appreciate the effort extended by USAC, POWRi and all other parties in trying to reschedule this event, but the 2013 calendars simply do not offer any options. Therefore we will direct our efforts toward 2014 to inaugurate this sensational racing concept.”

The Kokomo Grand Prix also had the POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series and the USAC Ignite Midgets scheduled.

POWRi has had its opening three events of the season for the Midgets and Micros cancelled by weather conditions. The next events on the schedule for both series are April 26 at Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway and April 27 at Macon (Ill.) Speedway.
