Kopella, Kouba Memorial dates this weekend for Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series

ST. CROIX FALLS, Wis. (June 3) – Generous shares of green will be paid out after the checkers fly at a pair of Upper Midwest Sprint Car Series events this weekend.
Kopellah Speedway at St. Croix Falls, Wis., hosts a $1,000 to win show on Friday, June 4. Night two of the doubleheader takes the tour to Brainerd, Minn., for a $1,500 to win main event at North Central Speedway’s 18th annual Kouba Memorial.

GRP Motorsports has added to the purse at Kopellah, site of two of the three series events already in the book this season. Pit gates and the grandstand both open at 5 p.m. The drivers’ meeting will be at 6:15 p.m. with hot laps to follow and racing at 7 p.m.

Grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $10 for fans 55 and older, $5 for students ages 13-19, and 12 and under get in free. Pit passes are $25

A hefty $8,500 feature purse has been announced for the Kouba Memorial. The runner-up earns $1,000, third place pays $700 and making the 20-car starting grid is good for a minimum of $240. Non-qualifiers get $125.

Precision Tool has added $500 to the purse, which will be distributed to the fourth through 10th finishing positions. Justice Brothers/Gillund Enterprises will provide $500 for the two Ethel Kouba Challenge Races and Ultimate Sprint heat race winners receive $55 each from GRP Motorsports.
Rik and Sandy Sandberg give the $100 Raleigh Sandberg Memorial hard charger award to the driver who advances the most positions from their starting spot in the feature. Another $100 from Ronnie and Cindy Wuiff for the Raleigh Sandberg Memorial hard luck award goes to the driver determined to experience the greatest misfortune during the evening.

Adding in bonus money, the total payout for the Kouba Memorial is more than $9,300. Should a driver complete a clean sweep of all racing action, winning their heat, challenge race and the feature, they would take home $1,655. The hard charger award would add another $100 to that amount.

Pit gates at Brainerd open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 6:45 p.m.

Admission to the grandstand will be $15 for adults, $8 for fans 55 and older, $5 for teens and $1 for kids 12 and under. Pit passes are $25.
