Hazard, Kentucky (06/13/19) – Kyle Strickler embarked on a life-long “Dream” over the weekend as he took a Dirt Late Model into battle at Eldora Speedway. The first-year driver of the G-Style Transport No. 8 Wehrs Machine/ Longhorn Race Car Super Late Model enjoyed a great, debut weekend at the 25th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream.
Strickler claimed multiple rookie awards, started on the pole on Saturday night and led more than 30 laps in the crown jewel finale.
“I’ve dreamed my whole life of driving a Dirt Late Model at Eldora Speedway, and this weekend I got to do just that,” Strickler noted. “We had an unbelievable weekend. To earn the pole position for the feature and then lead so many laps was something special for our team. I hate that we saw our chances at a Top-5 run eliminated by that late-race tangle, but it still doesn’t take away from our weekend accomplishments. I can’t wait to go back in September for the World 100.”
Kyle Strickler and the Wells & Sons Motorsports team traveled to Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Thursday night for the opening round of the 25th annual Dirt Late Model Dream. With a talented field of 92 Super Late Model competitors on hand for a pair of preliminary features, Strickler fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a sixth-place performance. Finishing second in his B-Main behind Josh Richards, Kyle earned the 23rd-starting position for the preliminary feature. Passing five cars in the 25-lap affair, Kyle Strickler posted an 18th-place outing.
Returning on Friday for another round of preliminary features, Kyle scored a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him 11th on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $10,000 on the line, Strickler held his spot for all 25-laps to record an 11th-place finish.
Wrapping up the 25th annual Dirt Late Model Dream on Saturday evening, Strickler started the night with a heat race victory, which earned him the pole position for the $125,000-to-win finale. Jumping to the lead on the drop of the green flag, Kyle surrendered the top spot to Kyle Bronson on the third lap. Thirteen circuits later he rocketed back to the top spot. Pacing the field for the next 32 laps, Strickler led the crown jewel finale until Earl Pearson Jr. grabbed the lead. Kyle went on to finish 14th after being collected in a tangle on lap-87.

The team returns to action this weekend – June 14-15. On Friday night Strickler will pursue the $4,088 top prize in the Big Daddy Classic at Kentucky’s Ponderosa Speedway. On Saturday evening the team will slide south to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) for the $15,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event.
