Sedalia, MO(August 17th)-With a huge resume of sprint car wins to his credit, Danny Lasoski had never won the Missouri State Fair Championship. On Sunday, Lasoski added yet another trophy in his storied career in O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors action at the State Fair Speedway.
Jonathan Cornell jumped into the lead from the pole and would lead lap one. Cornell would be pressured by Brian Brown for the top spot going into turn one on lap two. The duo made contact with Cornell having his right front wheel coming off from the contact leaving his car rolling helplessly up the track. Luckily, the rest of the field did a great job to avoid him, but the WOW rookie’s title hopes took a big hit with a 21st place finish.
Brown would lead on the restart followed by Curtis Evans, but the big mover to this point was Jon Corbin, who had moved up to third from his tenth starting spot. Corbin would dispose of Evans on the restart and set his sights on Brown. Corbin would work by Brown on lap six and would lead the next couple of laps as Lasoski rode third. Lasoski would get by Brown on lap eight and set his sights on Corbin. A lap later, Lasoski was able to get by Corbin. Corbin would keep Lasoski in sight, but he would have to settle for second as Lasoski went on to his fourth career WOW win in his own American Compressed Steel machine. Brown would come home third in the Tim and Gina Doogs Super Clean Maxim followed by Josh Fisher in the Rusty Fisher Maxim. Rounding out the top five was Jesse Hockett in the VKCC Motorsports DRC. Hockett had a busy night after having mechanical problems in his heat as he moved from fourteenth to first in the B Main and then from seventeenth to fifth in the A. WOW point leader Randy Martin was sixth in the Diamond Pet Foods J&J followed by Evans in the Arctic Cat Maxim. Rounding out the top ten were Dustin Barks, Adam Jones, and Doug Wilson.
The O’Reilly Auto Parts Winged Outlaw Warriors will next race at the Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, MO on August 30th and 31st in the annual LOS 360 Nationals followed by the annual trip to the Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO on September 6th.
