Team Set to Return to Winchester Speedway this Saturday

Waynesboro, Virginia (07/23/19) – It’s no big secret that racing can be a dangerous sport. However, sometimes getting to the track can actually be the most dangerous part. Just a few hours after seeing his team’s hauler careening off the road en route to the race track, Logan Roberson raced his Wynbridge Inc. No. 17 BTS Towing Service/ XR1 Rocket Chassis Crate Late Model to the feature win at Virginia’s Winchester Speedway.

The victory marked his ninth of the 2019 season.

On Saturday night Logan Roberson and his team made the trek to Winchester Speedway (Winchester, Virginia), where they were scheduled to enter a pair of features for the Chuck Brannon Memorial.

However, as the team traveled toward the clay oval, disaster struck. A car slammed on its breaks in front of the team transporter, forcing the hauler off the road and into the median. Thankfully the hauler didn’t flip, but it sustained considerable damage. Luckily, the team was able to limp the hauler to the track to compete in the night’s program.

The night started with Roberson rolling off second on the starting grid for the rescheduled Chuck Brannon Memorial. He jumped into the lead on the opening lap and dominated the entire distance to register his ninth win of the season with Al Shawver, Jakob Piper, Steven Lowery, and Levi Crowl following him across the line. He pocketed a $1,337 payday for his efforts.

Unfortunately, the second feature was eventually postponed to another date after the night’s action was stopped by a rapidly approaching curfew.

“It was a nightmare situation on the road that afternoon. Honestly though, we are very lucky that it wasn’t more devastating than it was,” Roberson noted. “Our hauler is out of commission indefinitely from the damage. However, for the time being I’m very thankful for Glen Elliott and RBS Auto Sales for providing us with a truck so that we can keep racing.

“Despite the day starting so bad we had a great car at Winchester and won the first feature. I’m confident we had a good shot at winning the second feature, but curfew got us, so we’ll just have to try again this Saturday.”

Logan Roberson will be back in action with the RUSH Weekly Late Model Series this Saturday at Winchester Speedway. Double features will be held as last week’s make-up, main event is on the docket as well.
