Monett Mo. As the racing season winds down, racers pulled into the Monett Speedway Sunday night hoping to pick up a win, and advance their point standing.

Republic Mo driver Brad Looney had a 16 point lead coming into Sunday nights race. Last week Looney suffered major damage to his number 14 machine, and was just hoping to hold on to the point lead. Will Vaught, and Looney took the heat race honors, putting Looney on the pole of the 25 lap UMP late model main event. Jesse Stovall started on the front row outside, Vaught, and Dustin Mooneyham on the 2nd row. When the 17 car field took the green flag Looney jumped out to take the early lead, as Stovall had his hands full with Vaught. Looney lead the 1st circuit and continued to pull away, only to have the caution wave on lap 6, for Darrin Barton. With the field nose to tail, Looney again pulled away from the field, with Stovall still holding the 2nd position, Vaught, Justin Wells, and Shane Essary, the top 5. The caution came out again on lap 12 for a car sitting on the back stretch. On the restart Stovall made a move on the top trying to get past the 14 car of Looney. The duo raced side by side for 2 laps, Stovall having a slight advantage at the stripe, only to have the red wave for the 31 car of Ron Johnson. Looney gets the number one spot back, as the field did not complete a full lap with Stovall the leader. With 12 laps remaining, Looney knew he had his hands full. Stovall again made a move going into turn one on the restart, but Looney held him off, and started to pull away. By lap 17, the leader was in heavy lap traffic, with Stovall and Vaught still battling for 2nd. Looney worked his way through lap traffic and took home his 4th win of the season at the Monett Speedway. Looney walked away as the point leader making it the 9th of his racing career. Stovall held on for 2nd, Vaught 3rd, Shane Essary 4th, Wells 5th.

Modified action saw Jason Meadors and Johnny Bone race side by side for 5 laps. Meadors using the high groove, Bone on the bottom, Meadors having a slight lead. Bone took the lead on lap 6, and cruised home to take the win and the points title. Meadors 2nd, Brent Holman 3rd.

George Meyer grabbed the Factory Stock win along with the points. Kelly Bremer 2nd, Mark Bourey 3rd.

The Bomber class saw Shawn Strong getting the win and picking up his 1st career point championship.

Lonnie Muhlbauer took the Pro-4 win, with Pat Schudy taking the track championship honors.

Rookie winner Shawn Price also took the track championship, in his division.

Next Sunday the Monett Speedway will host the 37th annual 4 State Dirt Track Championship. The DLRA Late Models along with the MARS series will be on hand. Also appearing will be the Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Bombers, and Rookies. All classes will have added money. Gates open at 5:00, races start at 7:30.
