Recap by Ronnie Williams
Despite around 5 inches of rain this week, the first ever March Madness was held with some extra fast racing action at the "Quick-Quarter ". The 3 point shootout for the top 6 in passing points saw Republic, MO Brad Looney nail the pole with Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, MO on the outside. Even though the books will show Looney leading all 40 laps, it was not easy. Looney gets the early lead while St. Genevieve, MO driver Dwayne Kiefer following. With Looney dialed in, Tony Jackson Jr of Lebanon, MO kept gaining ground and during the green flag runs was getting closer. By the halfway point, Jackson Jr and Will Vaught of Crane, MO were locked in a battle for second while 6-time MARS champion Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO, John Anderson of Omaha, NE and Jesse Stovall of Galena, MO were having a three way battle for fifth. Vaught had run down Looney while Jackson was in a dog-fight with Phillips and Stovall digging the ground hard. With only 5 laps remaining, Vaught turned up the heat and was running nose to tail with the leader. With 2 laps to go, Looney struggled with steering issues exiting turn four, as Vaught would pull up even with him at the flag stand. The duo brought the capacity crowd to their feet, Vaught made the final lunge as they took the white flag. Looney was able to keep Vaught behind him and bring home his first feature win of the season.

Tony Jackson Jr, Terry Phillips and Jesse Stovall rounded out the top five.

The next race will be at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, OK on April 6, 2012.
