LUCAS OIL LATE MODEL DIRT SERIES EXPANDS TO AMERICA'S HEARTLAND WITH THREE NEW EVENTS

LEXINGTON, KY - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has announced the addition of three new events in the heartland of America to its 2005 schedule. These additional dates give the series schedule a westward expansion into new markets.

The historic Belleville High Banks in Belleville, KS will host the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on June 24, and then the series will travel to Junction Motor Speedway in York, NE on June 25. West Liberty Raceway in
West Liberty, IA has scheduled a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event for July 28.

Belleville and West Liberty have both hosted national dirt late model races in the past. Junction Motor Speedway is just three-years-old, and will host its first national event when the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series comes to town.

"We really like the direction the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is taking the sport and we're confident they are the right people to work with in hosting our first national dirt late model event," Junction Motor Speedway
Public Relations Director Steve Hansen said. "We hope to develop a long-lasting relationship with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in an effort to promote our track in the national limelight."

West Liberty Raceway will host a national dirt late model event for the first time in over two years with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

"We're glad to have a national dirt late model event back at West Liberty Raceway, and continue the tradition we started with the old United Dirt Track Racing Association a few years ago," West Liberty Raceway Promoter Richard Smith said. "We're looking forward to having over 60 to 70 dirt late models in here for our Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event. We're really impressed with the direction Lucas Oil is taking the sport."

One driver looking forward to all three $10,000-to-win events is former World 100 Champion Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA. "Birky" knows the way to victory lane at both Belleville, and his home track, West Liberty.

"It's good to see a national dirt late model race returning to West Liberty, and I'm looking to racing there with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series," Birkhofer said. "Anytime you can race for $10,000-to-win 20 minutes from your house, it's a good deal. The UDTRA race I won there a few years ago really helped launch my career."

Birkhofer is also enthusiastic about going back to the Belleville High Banks, where he won two national events in 2004.

"Belleville is a really fun track, and I ran well enough to win two races here last year," Birkhofer said. "Belleville was the first track I've ever been to that I could run all of the way around the track for the entire race without lifting off the throttle."

Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL is another driver that has had good runs at Belleville and West Liberty. Pearson welcomes the return to both tracks.

"The fans are going to see a good show at Belleville because we're on the gas all of time there," Pearson said. "We had a good show at Belleville last year, and having been there for the first time, the place will really
fool you. It doesn't look like you can run it wide open when you first see it, but once you get on it, it's a different story. The only time we're off the gas is during a caution."

Pearson said West Liberty Raceway is another go-fast track, as well as being a very nice facility with enthusiastic fans.

"West Liberty is a big half-mile and a beautiful facility," Pearson said. "It's been a couple of years since I've been there, but I remember it being a track that is flat, wide and fast. We can race four-wide there all night
long if we wanted to. I always liked West Liberty, and the fans there really get into the racing."

The addition of Junction Motor Speedway impresses Pearson because he sees the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series bringing a lot more new venues to the sport of dirt late model racing.

"I'm looking forward to going to Junction Motor Speedway because it's a new facility that I've heard good things about," Pearson said. "I hope tracks like Junction Motor Speedway, The Belleville High Banks, and West Liberty Raceway become permanent events on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule, and I'm looking forward to them adding even more tracks. The people with the series are really professional, and I think they can open a lot of promoters' eyes to just how good this series is, and that's good for all of us."
