BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (Sept. 25, 2005) Chris Mackley of Bonne Terre and Rick Finney of St. Louis captured track "Overall Top Eliminator" honors Saturday night at Big River Sand Drags.

"Look at me, I'm still shaking," said Mackley following the pictures and awards ceremony following his championship race. "This is all because the car owner Phil Miller. Without him this was not a possibility."

Mackley drove his Open 4x4, "Bad To The Bone," to the championship by knocking off Competition Eliminator champion Tim Dee of Bismarck during the title match of the "Tournament of Champions." Mackley, who was the track champion in the Open 4x4 class, will now represent Big River Sand Drags at the St. Louis Auto Racing Fan Club's "Banquet of Champions" in January.
Picking up his second consecutive ATV overall track championship at Big River is Rick Finney of St. Louis. Finney knocked off Kyle Bates of Festus in the "ATV Overall Top Eliminator" championship match.

This was also a special night at Big River Sand Drags as two of the elite Open 4x4 racers of the country squared off in a best two-out-of-three challenge match between current and former track record-holders. Jim Bealmear of Mexico, Mo. knocked off Jerry Stephens of Wentzville in back to back races to win the match-up. During both races the two racers surpassed the 100-mph mark over the 300-foot sand track. Special thanks to Bealmear and Stephens for putting on the show for the fans.

Here are the results from the regular show.
