Flint, MI – Officials of the Michigan Dirt Cup Allstar Performance Modified Tour have announced the addition of an event to their 2011 schedule.

The new date will be September 17, 2011 at Winston Speedway in Rothbury, MI as part of the Throwin” Dirt Shootout weekend (Sept. 16 -17, 2011). The new date will allow the tour to still complete a seven race season after encountering a rain out of the Ownedale Speedway event on July2nd.

“Bill and I thought it was important to try and get in a seventh event in after the rainout at Owendale. There is a lot of money on the table for the racers that would be lost not only in race night money but points fund as well if we did not run,” commented Michigan Dirt Cup Co-Promoter Andy Stebbins.

“We would like to thank Tom Sprague and Winston Speedway for stepping up and hosting our tour for a second time, the first event at Winston Speedway was just fantastic,” added Stebbins.

The event will be the second appearance at the 3/8 mile facility. The inaugural visit by the tour saw a stellar field of 54 competitors with the race featuring three and four wide racing and a photo finish that saw Jacob Poel of Spring Lake, MI nip John DeMoss of Bloomington, IN by inches at the line in a photo finish.

“With late models on Friday night and bringing in the Michigan Dirt Cup on Saturday night, it makes the Throwin’ Shootut and outstanding weekend of racing for our fans,” said Winston Speedway track owner and promoter Tom Sprague.

“I was very pleased with our first show, 54 cars and great racing that ended in a photo finish; I expect we will see much of the same when they return. I know our fans are looking forward to it,” added Sprague.

More information will be released in the coming weeks about gate times and ticket pricing. A Sunday September 18th rain date has already been established.
