Batesville, Arkansas (8/07/07) – The Mid America Racing Series (M.A.R.S.) will return to action on Saturday, August 11th at the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri for a challenge event with the Midwest Late Model Racing Association (M.L.R.A.).

The M.A.R.S. competitors were in action in a pair of events last weekend at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri and Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri. When the dust settled on the weekend, it was defending M.A.R.S. Champion, Bill Frye, who claimed both wins and catapulted from third in points to the top spot. Point’s leader, Al Purkey from Coffeyville, Kansas, had a tough weekend and fell to sixth in the point standings. Purkey will be looking to make up ground on Saturday night in Wheatland, Missouri. Other M.A.R.S. competitors expected include Will Vaught (Missouri), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Brandon McCormick (Missouri), Terry Phillips (Missouri), Jeremy Payne (Missouri), and many more.

The M.A.R.S. competitors will square off against a strong field of opponents from the M.L.R.A. tour, led by point’s leader Alan Vaughn from Belton, Missouri. A strong contingent of regional competitors is also expected to be on hand to challenge the touring drivers in the $3,000 to win/$500 to start event.

Lucas Oil Speedway is a top notch 3/8 mile, clay oval. This will mark the second visit of the M.A.R.S. tour to the facility and a great deal of excitement has been generated by the event. Jack Sullivan won the first M.A.R.S. event at the facility in April, and will be looking for the repeat performance this weekend. Lucas Oil Speedway is located 5 blocks south of US Highway 54 on State Highway 83 in Wheatland, Missouri. For more information, please visit, www.LucasOilSpeedway.com .
