Midwest Sprint Cars Series signs Sponsor Hoosier Tire Midwest

by Sam Stockon - Hoosier Tire Midwest has committed to be a Series Sponsor again in 2003 with the Midwest Sprint Car Series. The relationship between Hoosier Tire and MSCS is starting the third Season which is MSCS third Season in operation. Other sponsors renewing their support is Engler Tool and Machine, Specialty Plasstics and Packaging, Beautiful Roses, Bowlers Apparel and Trophies, and Afco Racing Products. Three new companies have joined, B & B Oval Track Products of Mentor, Ohio, Dynamite Race Cars of Coatesville, Indiana, and Snyder Enterprises of Danville, Indiana. More companies have been contacted and we will gain more support before the 2003 Season starts.

Scheduling is off to a good start with the Terre Haute Action Track being on an early start of Saturday, April 12th. In May there will be races at Tri-State Speedway, Haubstadt, Indiana on May 4th, Lincoln Park Speedway, Putnamville, Indiana on May 10th. A track for Memorial Day weekend is being worked on tho make a three day weekend Special. Sunday, May 26th at Tri-State Speedway and Monday, May 27th at Windy Hollow, Owensboro, Kentucky are on tap. The two shows at Haubstadt will be very special events and specifics will be available in the future. June the 14th the beautful new Kamp Motor Speedway at Boswell, Indiana will host MSCS and June the 15th MSCS will move down the road to Vermillion County Speedway at Danville, Illinois which is now promoted by Jamie Reed and Bob Sargent. MSCS will be back in Danville for the Third Annual "LARRY BOOM-BOOM CANNON MEMORIAL" at the Vermilion County Speedway.

There will be two trade/sales shows that MSCS will be represented at in January. Saturday and Sunday, January 11th and 12th at the Village Square Mall at Effingham, Illinois. The second Swap Meet and Trade Show will be in the Johanning Civic Cetner in Kokomo, Indiana on January 25th.

Mitch Wissmiller of Saybrook, Illinois the 2002 point champion and Rookie winner will be honored at the HARF Banquet in Indianapolis on January 18th. Mitch should be a possibility for HARF's Rookie award after winning five features in is first year of sprint car competition. 2003 will have another substantial award for the Rookie, but the sponsor has not been signed as of yet.

The 2003 rule book is completed and is available from the MSCS office. Driver and Car Owner Licenses are also available. Money and Awards in 2003 will only be eligable to those that compete in 60% or more of the races.

Midwest Sprint Car Support Series, which is a Steel Block group has a number of commitments from racers, but at this time there is no Speedways signed to hold races. We have many possibilities and we should have a schedule in the near future.
