Modified Championship Finale at CSP this Weekend!

Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (September 24, 2012) – A track championship hangs in the balance this weekend as Canyon Speedway Park is set for the IMCA Modified Championship Finale on Friday and Saturday.



Two full nights of racing action on Friday and Saturday will wrap up the IMCA Modified points chase for 2012 at DCRP, with CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Cars, Pure Stocks, Dwarf Cars and Bombers in action as well on both nights. Racing action gets under way at 7:00 p.m. each night.



Although shut out of victory lane thus far, Cody Center leads the way into the weekend with a slim six-point edge over Jason Noll, who scored a feature win on March 3. Guy Norton, who topped the most recent event on September 2, is 22 points out of the lead in third, with Steve Stultz and Jim Collinsworth rounding out the current top five.



Eight different drivers have reached victory lane in eleven IMCA Modified feature events, with Norton, D.J. Wood and Ricky Thorton, Jr., each posting two wins. Single wins have been claimed by Tim Ward, Noll, Mark Stewart, Robert Adams and Chris Olexicwiez.



Matt Lundy holds an 11-point edge over Johnny Shelton, Jr., in CSP Challenge Cup Sprint Car points on the strength of three feature wins, while Chris McCurdy, Jr., holds a 12-point edge over Joe Vlasity in the Pure Stock ranks.



After claiming his second win of the year in the most recent Bomber outing on September 2, Joe Peterson holds a six-point lead over John Romero, while the Dwarf Cars have offered up five different winners in as many CSP appearances this year.



Tickets for this weekend’s IMCA Modified Championship Finale at CSP are $15 each night, with a $2 discount for Military, Seniors and Students. Children ages 7-12 are $6, with children 6 and under admitted free. VIP passes are available for $20.
