CLARKSVILLE, TN – Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC has become the first weekly dirt track in the Carolinas to sign up for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series. In addition to the becoming involved with the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, the series and the track will also be announcing a date for the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour in the coming days.

“We’re happy to have Modoc Speedway leading the way for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series in the Carolinas,” StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series Director Mike Vaughn said. “There is a lot of interest in the crate engine format of dirt late model racing in the Carolinas, and we’re looking forward to building our StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series in this area.”

The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series features economical engines produced by GM Performance and sealed at factory. The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series gives weekly short track competitors an opportunity to compete in an economical late model division against drivers at other weekly tracks on a regional and national basis.

The steel-head “602” engine sells for $2,800, and the aluminum-head “604” engine sells for $4,800. Race cars using the 602 engine weigh 2,200 pounds, and get a 150 pound weight break over the race cars using the 604 engine that must weigh 2,350 pounds. These engines are race-ready right out of the crate from the factory.

“We’re really impressed with what the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series brings to the table, and that’s one reason why we want to be involved with them,” Modoc Speedway Promoter Terry Odom said. “The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series has a sponsor that is getting involved in our track, and they have a very professional staff put together with a lot of national experience that we are looking forward to working with.”

Odom said he believes that tracks should work together in an effort that they all are successful, and he’s working towards uniting tracks in the Carolinas.

“The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series, with its rules for crate-engine dirt late models, is a good way to unite tracks, and to get them to start working together,” Odom said. “We’re working towards uniting the tracks in our area, and I’m going to be trying to get other Carolina tracks to sign up for the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series for their crate late model divisions.”
