Farmington, MO (June 19) -- Montgomery Wins!! Yes, Montgomery does win, however this time it is Tim Montgomery. What a great to get his win, $2000 to win and employees of Belgrade State Bank on hand. Starting in the ninth position on the grid, Tim worked his way carefully through the field, dealing with faster cars and lapped traffic. The lapped traffic would work to his advantage as he passed both first and second place runners on the bottom. The leaders, bother Joey and Tommy Worley, Jr were involved in a heavily contest race for the win, only to get caught up in the slower traffic near the end of the race. Joey had the fast car and looked as if he would win for a third time this season. Tommy Worley and Jerrod Hull did more than one slide job on each other before Worley could make a run at Joey. Leading less than a handful of laps Tim claimed his first victory of 2010. Joey hung on for second, Worley collects third, Hull stuck it out for fourth and Jimmy Hurley completes the top five. The race was slowed by several caution periods for various reasons. The red flag did fly as Ryan Kempin bounced his mount on the wing. He walked away from the scene under his own power.
The Modified portion of the program was just as contested as the Sprints. Shannon Blair now has a victory in the division. His hard charging style came through Saturday night. Blair ran in the top five for most of the event chasing down front row starters Mike Abney and “Rooster” Griffin. Griffin would follow Abney into turn one. AS they got to turn 3, Griffin surged ahead, but spun the out. On this spin Griffin would collect our special guest for the evening, Kenny Schrader. Schrader had enough damage to his car to be forced to the pits and out for the remainder of the feature. Action began to pick up at this point as Billy Smith found the front of the field with Abney, Blair, Kenny Rumble and Jeff Asher in tow. Lap 10 found Jeff Asher’s car stalled bringing out the caution. The restart was wicked. After taking the green the cars headed down the front straight and Timmy Hill did a series of barrel rolls. His car was destroyed. Tim climbed out of the car and walked to the ambulance under his own power. This lap 11 restart bunched the field for final run at the checkers. Well maybe not. Smith had a good lead, but Kenny Rumble working the high side of the track began to close the gap. Lap 17 rolled around and Smith broke something in his car entering turn three. Rumble assumed the lead on lap 18. Looking very smooth taking the green headed into turn one with 2 laps remaining. Rumble would lead for one lap as he smacked the wall in turn two. This was the opening that Blair was looking for and he took advantage. He led the final two laps and the win. Rumble did hang on for second, Brent Thompson makes it up to third followed by Jeremy Greenwalt in fourth and pole sitter Mike Abney finishes fifth.
Randy Forster, started on the pole position, took charge and made it all the way to the Winners Circle. Forster claimed the win in a event with only one caution. He and Eddie Gross charged out to the front with point leader Kenny Harris close behind. Forster built his lead in the feature while the filed ran in small groups. Gross, Harris, John Bohn and Mike Savage provided lots of action for the next four spots. Gross would shake off the challenges and keep second. Savage, Bohn and Harris round out the top five.
Chris Boyd looks unbeatable in the Pure Street Division as he wins for the fifth time in six events. Although Boyd gets the win it wasn’t as easy. Eric Sarakas run with Boyd for most of the event. He stayed close for a while, but could not quite get the run for the lead. Sarakas, with his best run in 2010 place second. In the show position or third place, Robbie Wells. He also had his best performance on the season. Fouth place belonged to Dusty Homan, with the “Wolf” Dave Wofford completing the top five.
Next Saturday June 26, the Kids Caged go-karts make their showing for 2010 along with the regular racing classes. Winged Sprints, Modifieds and Pure Street Divisions.
