Montgomery Thoughts 9/27

I didn't think they would get the show in, it was spitting rain off and on all day. They did get the show in, I got home a 6am and my mind is fried. So my thoughts may not be....thoughtfull???

Ohhhhhhhhh well, on with the post.

A much larger car count than I would have anticipated with Highland running it's large show. They had so many cars that during the short rain showers cars were lined up all the way out to the highway and down the sholder towards 70. Then it took a bit of time to get them all in the pits.

The Matt Kenseth show car was here, I thought Matt had the winston cup championship locked up and decided to come to MCS and race B mods or something....He wasn't there....Too bad.

Once things got going I think there was like 22 or 24 latemodels, 29 A mods, A but load of B mods, and 22 or so street stocks.

Qualifying: Not sure all this is the speculation of a lunatic mind.

Latemodels: Ed Dixon (Very Fast New Track Record)
A Mods: Rick Conoyer(I think)
B Mods: I'm not sure
Street Stocks: I believe James Brock was fast time

Heat Races: They had some

Latemodels:

1st Heat: 50 Ed Dixon, 33 Jason Frankel
2nd Heat: 11 Brian Collins
3rd Heat: 71 John Bohn, 45 Denny Woodworth
Dash: 50 Ed Dixon, 11 Brian Collins,16H Mike Hammerle (Jason Frankel breaks a transmission and is out for the night.)

A Mods:

1st Heat: 14 Rick Conoyer
2nd Heat: 4j Scott Weber
3rd Heat: 16 Rusty Griffaw
Semi: 10 Brad White(1st win in a UMP Modified)

B Mods:

1st Heat: 26 Jeff Horst
2nd Heat 95 Jeff Beasley
3rd Heat 23 Tim Barrett
Semi: 25 Ed Martin

Street Stocks

1st Heat: 18 Jeremy Greenwalt
2nd Heat: 69 Kenny Harris
3rd Heat: 16 Dan Kaminski(1st Win Ever) Casey Nations led most of the race and broke on the last lap to finish in 2nd.
Semi: 88 Kim Westling (1st Win Ever)

Randy Hanks was impressed with his front page photo of the Color Drivers Seat!!! He was wondering when the special Randy Hanks edition would be out?

Jeremy Greenwalt and Casey Nations made the haul from Farmington since the twin 50's were rained out. Jeremy was bad fast in his heat race and then in the feature off came the roof and on went the sprint car wing....WOW

Other cars that made body changes during open comp were Tim Barrett, small spoiler, no roof, Jared Kneemiller no roof, LEXAN BABY LEXAN, only way to fly.

Ralph Joseph was on hand to tech the street stock cars. Scott Stuppy was still legal. I think Scott was 3rd or 4th in the feature.

Had a new fellow in the number 10 Todd McGraw's car, looked shaky in the heat and had a good run in the feature.

Mark Schnurbusch made the trip, had a good run in the heat race going before getting a car in his side on the last lap of the heat race. Not sure how he did in the feature.

Randy Hanks also did a good job of helping with the announcing, and John "Loud Mouth" showed me "Mud Man", a little guy constructed totally out of mud. We came to the conclusion that Mud Man was modeled on Kenny Harris. In my picture you'll notice the striking resembalence.

Kenny Harris and I have the same strength and conditioning coach...Jeff Mills

I'm going to post some pictures and then give the feature results. Why? Because I can....lol

Features:

Latemodels: 1. 50 Ed Dixon 2. 11 Brian Collins

Ed never had any serious challengers.

On track brawl of the night was the 1w of Gary Wilson and the 17 of Lance Kobusch. Not sure what started it, but Lance pulled off the track carrying a little speed about toe level from me so I had to move quickly to get out the way.

He pulled to a stop in the infield and then the 1w of Gary Wilson came from out of no where to help push him further off the track. There were the traditional words exchanged and I was thinking "Oh this won't have a happy ending." Then thinks kind of calmed down.

I don't think Lance will be on Gary's Christmas card list this year.

Modifieds: 1. 16 Rusty Griffaw 2. 54 Rick Stevenson 3. 4J Scott Weber 4. 18R Shawn Rayfield 5. 89 Bob Bittle 6. Clint Eckenrodt

Rusty led the entire race, Rick Conoyer made a late race challenge for the lead. Rusty and Rick got together coming out of turn 2 and Rick got turned around to bring out a yellow.

Street Stocks:

1. 18 Jeremy Greenwalt 2. 69 Kenny Harris 3. 14 James Brock(I think) 4. 00 Scott Stuppy

Jeremy brought out the sprint car wing and stunk up the joint. He was bad fast. If the feature was 25 laps I'm pretty sure he would of lapped the field.

B mods

1. 95 Jeff Beasley 2. 23 Tim Barrett

Jeff Beasley and Tm Barrett hooked up for a hell of a good race. Jeff appeared to be able to get through the turns better than Tim.

Randy Hanks and Kim Westling were discussing what Randy should put on his spoiler for next year. A few of the suggestions are as follows.

1. Track Ho'
2. Red headed...Something, I was drinking at the time
3. Race Skank
4. ***** Slap

A shot of Kenny Harris receiving his trophy for Street Stock Champion....Then my batteries went dead and I went in search of beer.

Ahhhh, you gotta love the sprint car wing. Put a wing on and destroy the field. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I forgot all about that, that is correct Steve Sheppard started out in the F15 car and it broke. So he jumped in his car, started in the back and went on a charge to the front. I'm not sure if he would have beat Ed, but he sure was fast.

ok. what i heard was that jeremy, the guy who steve was racing for in the f15 thought the track was to ruff and loaded up and left.. And steve took his car down there for ed bauman to drive, but something was wrong with it so ed never drove it.. and when the f15 left stevie fixed his and was bad *** fast...

You can't remember the other name for the spoiler on Hank's car? You were drinking? Or could it of possibly been those jello shots?

I believe the threat of "There isn'a track far enough away you can hide from me", that erased my memory....lol

LOL!!! Yes it was a pretty interesting conversation between the two of them. Can't wait to see what he comes out with next year on the spoiler.

MFV= WATCHOUT!!!

Those Jello shots you speak of Dirttrackin11 are WICKED... It's a good thing I don't smoke, or I would have had to wait 10 minutes to do so after one of those MFV's.. How do you get the Jello to harden with ALL that Liquor in there???.. Thanx to tyhe DT11 gang for always bringing the party to "Another Level" WHEW!!! See ya Saturday!!! Donnie:cool:   :D

Wren Racing #406

Sorry Donnie i forgot to tell you that you could probably run those MFV's through your car as racing fuel. I always wondered the same thing. I have no idea how them MFV's jell. After the first one or two they tend to go down a little smoother sometimes. Good Luck this weekend!!! Keri
