Center Line, Mich. - Mopar and Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises will finally have the opportunity to tackle the high banks of Eldora Speedway this Sunday, May 30. That is, if Mother Nature allows it. Rain forced the cancellation of two USAC events at the track earlier in the season.

Mopar drivers Jay Drake and Cory Kruseman, who are 1-3 in the USAC National Sprint Car Series point standings, will lead competitors into the Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic in the series' first appearance at the historic half-mile clay oval this season.

Drake, who has led the USAC National Sprint Car Series points from the start of the season, is ready to return to Eldora. He and the No. 20 Mopar team enter the event with two objectives: winning the race and cushioning his already growing advantage in the points championship.

"We want to win the race this weekend at Eldora," Drake said. "You've got to win races to win the championship, and in leading the points right now, we know we need to win as many races as possible to stay in the lead. This team really has two goals this season: to win races and win the championship. You can't have one without the other, and we're focused on doing both."

Kruseman enters the event in third position in USAC National Sprint Car Series points, and he hopes to pilot the No. 21 Mopar-powered machine back into the second spot in the standings. Having won the Tony Hulman Classic at the Terre Haute Action Track just one week ago, Kruseman hopes to carry some momentum into the Eldora event.

"Winning at Terre Haute was a momentum builder for the team," Kruseman said.
"To get our first USAC win on a half-mile track gives us the confidence to run well at Eldora. The communication between this team is really starting to click, and the result of that can be seen by our performances this season. We're in a position to run well, if not win, at Eldora this weekend."

This weekend will also provide an opportunity for drivers to gear up for the Mopar Thunder event, which will be held at Eldora Speedway on August 7. Race drivers from around the world will compete in the non-winged sprint car event, which promises a $50,000 payout for the winner. Tickets for Mopar Thunder can be purchased by calling (937) 338-3815.
