Moser picks up first of 2003 at Doe Run Raceway

DOE RUN, MO--(August 15, 2003) Farmington, MO native Ron Moser had one thing on his mind as he crawled into his #37 Mustang Mini Stock this past Friday night at Doe Run Raceway--winning his first feature event of 2003.

From his front row starting spot, Moser jumped out to an early lead and despite numerous challenges from Eric Bellew and Chuck White, was able to hold on for the win. Eric Bellew finished second, White third, Carl Bellew fourth and Chris Pettus fifth. Moser won the first heat followed by Eric Bellew and Darryll Dickerson. White won the second heat with Carl Bellew second and Mike LaBrot third.

The ever growing Dwarf car class continues to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. This past Friday it was Vince Conway leading the 15 car field to the checkered flag in the main event. Todd Williams finished second, Sam Layton third, Steve Copeland fourth and Glenn Province fifth. Bobby Black won the first heat, Conway second and Williams third. Province won the second heat followed by Layton and Copeland.

In the 600cc Multi class, it was Casey Barnhouse from start to finish as he grabbed the front runner spot at the drop of the green flag and led all 20 laps to pick up his second victory in as many weeks. Junior Ferguson pressured Barnhouse from all angles but was unable to make the pass and had to settle for a second place finish. Kent Buckley finished third, Jeremy Boyer fourth and Matt Ponder fifth. Buckley won the first heat with Barnhouse second and Joey Boyd third. Ferguson won the second heat followed by Chuck Fenwick and Boyer. Buckley picked up his second win of the evening in the "six-fastest". Barnhouse finished second and Ferguson third.

Braydon Wright led the field to the checkers in the Stock Kart class feature event. Jesse Wright finished second, Wayne Arnold third, Brad Paquet fourth and Amber Bayless fifth. Braydon Wright won the first heat followed by Jesse Wright and Paquet. Andrew Cash won the second heat, Bayless second and Scottie Hutchins third.

Michael Harp picked up a pair of victories in the Super Stock Kart class. He was followed across the stripe in the feature event by Kyle Jarrett, Dalton Radford, Wayne Arnold and Megan Bell. Radford picked up a second place finish in the heat race, Jarrett third.

Racing resumes Friday night at the Doe Run Raceway with 600cc Multi, Mini Stock, Dwarf, Stock and Super Stock Kart classes participating. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., practice at 7:30 p.m., racing at 8:00 p.m. For more information, log on to www.doerunraceway.com or phone (573) 756-8889.
