Billy Moyer of Batesville, Arkansas claimed the 60 lap A-Main tonight in the
culmination of the LUCAS OIL Challenge series that started two days earlier
at the Oglethorpe Speedway Park, moved to Waycross for the second leg and
completed the trifecta at the Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia.

In reminiscent Brunswick fashion, which featured little to no passing, Moyer
started his mount in the fourth starting spot and took the lead on Lap 5 when
Skip Arp and Jeff Cook, the front row starters were collected by a slow car
when Tom Moore, a backmarker, spun off of turn 4 and collected the front two
runners. Neither Arp, Cook or Moore were able to restart after the melee
which also added Chris Madden as a victim, with a severely damaged race car.

Moyer would never be headed again as he inherited the lead at lap 5 and led
the remaining 55 markers to add a $10,000.00 paycheck to his account for his
efforts. Moyer drove his Mastersbilt, Jay Dickens, Hawkeye Truck Sales.com,
AFCO Racing Products, JF GRaphics, J&J Steel, Hoosier Racing Tire, WATTERS
Autoland #21 to the win!

Following Moyer at the stripe for the checkered flag were Pearson, Jr.,
Duvall, Shaver, Schlieper, Crowe, Masey, Balzano, Pannell and Bray.

Attrition took its toll on many of the starting field as the abrasive oil
asphalt like surface played havoc with tire wear.

Additionally, Moyer was crowned as the Lucas Oil Challenge Champion for the
three day series point championship, adding yet another bonus for his early
season efforts.

30 cars took their turn at the clocks for qualifying with Skip Arp recording
the fastest lap at a time of 17.33

The first heat was won by Arp over Mike Duvall, Steve Shaver, Ray Cook, Dan
Schlieper, Mike Balzano, Doug Sanders and Leland Pruitt.

The second heat was topped by Jeff Cook in an impressive run over hard
charging Earl Pearson, Jr., Dennis Rambo Franklin, Ed Masey, Shannon Babb,
Jason Fitzgerald, Jason Oswald and Tom Moore.

The third heat was Chris Madden taking the honors over Randle Chupp, Mike
Carter, Bob Robertson, Skip Pannell, Royce Bray and Randy Lucas.

The fourth and final heat was won by Mr. Smooth Billy Moyer over Freddy
Smith, Kenneth Crowe, Pete Parker, Randy Hemphill, Mike Collins and Ron
Chance.

The consi seen Mike Balzano take the checkered ahead of Fitzgerald, Bray and
Collins.

The modified feature was won by Newport Tennessee hotshoe Jimmy Owens in
convincing fashion, showing why Owens has been a multiple time UMP National
Champion in the open wheel class.
