MSCCS at Columbus Speedway This Friday Night!

Columbus, MS- The next event for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge will be on Friday night March 11th at Columbus Speedway with a $2,000 to win and $250 to start 40-lap main event as part of the Rebel Challenge weekend that features $10,000 possible to win for the Super Late Models at Columbus Speedway. Racing action is set to get underway at 8:00pm on Friday night.

The Friday night format is expected to be the same as the South Mississippi show. Brown Engineering Group Pole Qualifying will be used and the top two qualifiers from each of the expected four groups will be locked into the field. Positions 9 through 20 will be set from four Cliburn Tank Lines B-Mains that will transfer the top three from each. Positions 21 and 22 will be provisional starters in accordance with MSSCS procedures with position 21 for the highest driver in MSCCS points not in the show and position 22 for the highest driver in Columbus Speedway points not in the show.

David Gentry will have the early season MSCCS points lead after taking the $5,000 MSCCS win last weekend and is also returning to Columbus Speedway after winning the Winter Classic in January. Shannon, Mississippi’s Neil Baggett is in second place in MSCCS points and also showing the way in the title chase for the Jay Dickens’ Racing Engines Rookie of the year title. Marty Hardy of Jackson rounds out the top three in what should be another excellent turnout for the MSCCS competitors on night #1 of the Rebel Challenge weekend.

Many other MSCCS drivers are expected to be on hand including 2 time and reigning MSCCS Champion Scott Slay plus Dennis Duncan, Chris Wall, David Breazeale, Rodney Wing, David Molpus, Phillip Cooper, Mike Boland, MSCCS Rookie Ronny Lee Hollingsworth and a large contingent of the best drivers in the region.
