Haubstadt, IN - May 2, 2013. Tri-State Speedway will host the non wing sprint cars Saturday May 11th for the first time this season.
The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will share the spotlight that evening with the United States Auto Club. The co-sanctioned event will attract the best sprint car drivers from throughout the Midwest and beyond. The 30 lap main event will pay $5,000 to the winner!

The very first “Spring Showdown” featuring the two sprint car
sanctioning bodies was held at the Haubstadt oval in 2012. Hunter
Schuerenberg of Sikeston, MO, outran Levi Jones and Kevin Thomas Jr.
to win that inaugural event. It was a winning combination with talented drivers that follow both series placing in the top ten for the final rundown. Drivers with a previous history of racing at the track used that experience to do very well.

The defending MSCS Champion is Jon Stanbrough. The defending USAC Sprint Car Champion is Brian Clauson. This will be the first race of the season for MSCS so it is a very important stop to drivers needing to place well in order to pursue the series points championship. It is a full points race for MSCS licensed drivers.
The USAC Points battle is already underway.

It is very early in the season but the USAC title chase could be between as many as five or more drivers. The battle is shaping up to be a contest between Hunter Schuerenberg, Chase Stockon, Brian Clauson, Brady Bacon, and Tracy Hines. Dave Darland, Kevin Thomas Jr, and Robert Ballou are also poised and already in position to be factors as the season continues to unfold!

Chase Stockon won the last 2 events in which MSCS drivers were involved last season. He won the Harvest Cup at Tri-State Speedway to finish out the 2012 MSCS campaign. Chase also won a co-sanctioned race at Lawrenceburg Speedway the previous weekend. He led the most laps of any driver competing in MSCS last season. Chase Stockon and Kyle Cummins were the only drivers to win two MSCS features during the 2012 season.

Warm ups and hot laps for the competitors begin at 6 o’clock with qualifying to follow. The program will be conducted using the USAC format. The Passing points system used by MSCS normally will not be in use. Racing is set to get underway at 7:30 p.m. Haubstadt is located in the Central Time Zone.

One of the biggest sprint car races for the season at Tri-State Speedway is this very first non wing promotion. The challenge, the money, and the prestige are all on the line. The “Spring Showdown”
between USAC and MSCS will have it all and perhaps more!

The UMP Dirt Car Open Wheel Modifieds will also be racing at
Tri-State Speedway on May 11th. Trent Young won the feature for the
mod class at the opener for the speedway in April. Twenty nine cars and drivers were in the pits to compete. At least five of those drivers were still in the hunt during the final few laps.
