81 Speedway kicked off the 2021 season in high flying fashion Saturday April 3rd. It was the “The Mt. Hope Missile” Tad Davis and the “B52 Bomber” Jeremy Chambers both bringing home wins on the opening night for Summit Racing Equipment USRA Weekly Racing Series action.

Chambers played the patience game during a caution plagued Chunky Poodle USRA B-Mod feature, stalking pole sitter Brian McGowen until the races mid-way point. With laps finally clicking away, Chambers flexed his muscle driving around the 22x machine at the exit of turn 4. From there it was all Chambers the rest of the way. McGowen, Reece Solander, Krew Walburn and defending track champion Kenton Allen completed the top 5. B-Mod newcomer Braden Stoner, Chambers and Krew Walburn claimed the 3 heat race wins.

In Alternative Pest Management USRA Modified action, it was Mt. Hope’s Tad Davis who stunned the field from his 11th starting spot on the grid. Derby, KS racer Scott Green paced the field for the first half of the event, until caution flags interrupted the otherwise fast paced event. Taking notes from Chamber’s B-Mod win, Davis had worked his way into the top 5 using the middle part of the Speedway before the caution flew. On the ensuing restart, Davis once again stuck the middle and went 5th to 1st in a single lap while the rest of the top 5 continued to argue for real-estate around the hub of the Speedway. Another late race restart saw Hutchinson’s Jake Nightingale sneak past Green for 2nd. Green finished 3rd, Cody Schneipp 4th, and hard charging Randy Wilson went 22nd to 5th. Making another early season modified start, MLRA Late Model RoY candidate Chris Kratzer, along with Jake Nightingale and Bryce Schneipp, picked up heat race wins.

David Blocher and Korey Bice both picked up where they left off last season. Blocher drove away from the field and swept the night in AutoTech Service Center Super Stock action. James Weve, Rod Northcutt, 2020 Camp Mike McIlvain, and Raymond Ketner made up your top 5. Sixth starting Korey Bice picked his way through the Primal Beef Jerky Mini Stock field on his way to the first checker flag of the season. Brett Barber, Jayce Reimer, Haley Cash and Aaron Esparza completed the top five, with Barber and Wyatt Gaggero pickup up heat race wins.
