Jeff Mueller, Denny Woodworth, Michael Long and Bobby Anders all took feature event wins at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, June 27 during Little Jess Jeep Night at the Races.

Jeff Mueller came away the big winner in the Tri-State IMCA Stock Car Shootout by bagging the feature event win worth a cool $1000. Mueller started the main event from the outside of row number two and took the lead away from Terry Houston on the fourth lap and held survived several early caution periods restarts to maintain the lead. Houston maintained the second spot and kept up the pursuit throughout the thirty lap event but had to settle for the second position at the checkered flag almost five and a half seconds behind Mueller. Shawn Johnson scored the third place money followed by Jason Cook in fourth and John Heintz in fifth. Aaron Brocksieck, Houston and Mueller all took heat race wins over a field of twenty two drivers from as far away as Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Veteran Ron Elbe took the early lead Budweiser IMCA Late Model feature event and held off Dustin Neese for the first eight laps but when Elbe slipped high in turn three on the eighth lap, Neese took advantage and grabbed the top spot and held on until lap 13 when Denny Woodworth came roaring through the field from his starting spot on the outside of row number five. Woodworth made quick work of Neese and pulled away from the battle raging behind him for the other top five spots. Keith Pratt made a valiant effort to catch Woodworth but had to settle for the second position at the checkered flag followed by Billy Genenbacher in third, Justin Reed in fourth and Dustin Neese in fifth. Woodworth and Dustin Griffin were the heat race winners while Neese claimed the win in the Summy Tire and Auto Center Trophy Dash.

Jared Schlipman took the early lead in the Miller Lite UMP Modified main event and look like he might just take his third feature win of the year but it was not to be as Michael Long came from his fifth row outside starting spot to claim the top spot on the fifth lap. Long held Schlipman’s repeated challenges until the checkered flag fell at lap twenty five. Dave Wietholder grabbed third followed by Shawn Deering in fourth and Steven DeLonjay in fifth. Wietholder and Schlipman were the heat race winners while Schlipman gathered up the hardware in the Advance Trading Trophy Dash.

Brian Hoener jumped into the lead of the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stock feature event when the green flag flew and looked good for the feature win but Bobby Anders had other ideas as Anders came from his fourth row starting spot to Hoener for the lead by lap five. Hoener held true to his line and held Anders back for the next ten laps but Anders slipped past for the lead on lap fifteen. Anders then cruised to the win, his fifth of the season at the checkered flag. Hoener scored the runner up spot followed by Mike Wiley in third, Steve Carlin in fourth and Tanner Klingele in fifth. Hoener and Wiley were the heat race winners.

The annual Pepsi Mid Season Championships are on the line at Quincy Raceways on Sunday, July 4 with a special addition to the race schedule that night as well. Promoter Tony Rhinberger has schedule a UMP National Points race for the UMP Pro Crate Late Models. A good field of the Crate powered UMP Late Models from the area are expected to compete in the $700 to Win feature event. Several local drivers who compete regularly in the UMP Pro Crate Late Model division at Tri-City Speedway and Spoon River Speedway will try to defend the home turf from the field of challengers. Dustin Griffin, young Jake Griffin and Jerry Lierly are expected to compete. Regular ticket prices are in effect for the big special night of racing action with the Pit Gates opening at 3:00, Grandstands at 4, Driver Registration and Drivers Meeting at 4:45, Hot Laps at 5 and Racing scheduled to start at 5:30pm.
