ASH FLAT, AR - Kenny Wallace, of Nascar fame, is scheduled to appear at West Plains Motor Speedway on Thursday, June 16, and will be available for autographs and pictures followed by an open-wheel modified event where Wallace will actually compete with the local drivers in heats and a feature event.
Wallace, who was raised in Rolla, MO, now resides in Concord, NC, and frequently commutes between Concord and the St. Louis, MO, area where he has among other things, a business interest in Impressive Chassis, an open wheel modified manufacturing company.
Wallace recently explained that his father, Russ and his older brothers, Rusty and Micheal, had all competed on dirt tracks in southern Missouri, and he was excited and anxious to be coming to West Plains since they had all raced the area in years past. Some of the veteran drivers at WPMS remember racing with the elder Wallaces, including the track flagman, Buddy Langston.
In this non-sanctioned modified event, Wallace will be wheeling his #36 Impressive Race Car, sponsored by Stacker 2 and displaying the familiar "Hermanator" artwork. This event will be paying $1,000 to win and $100 to start the feature. Also on the night's card will be the Hobby Stock as a support class.
A selection of Wallace's souvenir items will also be available that night at the track.
For this event, dubbed the Inaugural Kenny Wallace Race Night, gates will open at 5 p.m. The autograph session is set for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with hotlaps at 7:30 p.m., and racing at 8 p.m. Adult admission will be $10, kids 7-11 $3, and those 6 and under are always free at West Plains Motor Speedway. Pit passes will be $25. The track is located 6 miles south of West Plains on US Hwy. 63.
