With the addition of a new title sponsor, new drivers committed to the series, a rookie of the year sponsor, no less than five drivers having announced their intentions on competing for rookie of the year in 2011, this season is shaping up to be yet another with the outcome on the championship being decided once again at season’s end.
Defending series champion Todd Decker of Edmond, Oklahoma will be back to defend his series championship in 2011. He is just one of four drivers to have competed in all nineteen events that have been held in the tours short history.
Kevin Snow of Enid, Oklahoma is another one of the drivers who has competed in every event on the tour and had plans on competing full time once again this year. However, as we go to press, his status for the season opener is uncertain as the team is thrashing to get his car ready.
The career series feature winner with the tour, Robert Elliott of Clinton, Oklahoma will also be back in hopes of earning his first series championship.
Other series regulars expected on hand this weekend and for all the scheduled races this year include all Oklahoma drivers Landon Maddox, Randy Sallee, Ross McCartney, series veteran Frank Graven and Donnie McConnell.
Inaugural series champion Chad McNamara of Blackwell will also be back on the tour full time this year.
The Triple B Oil Field services rookie of the year battle will see the following drivers do battle: The two car team of Kinzer Edwards and Devon Gerrior, Zachary Tippett, J.D. Choate and Amarillo, Texas driver Brandon Smith. Smith won’t be the first Amarillo resident competing full time with the series as Donnie Raney pulled the feat back in 2009, finishing second in the series point standings.
Other drivers expected to compete during the series opener but not full time with the series will be last year’s rookie of the year and series runner up Dustin Buntin, Greg Deterding, Eddie Sweeney, Travis Johnson, Hesston Shaw, Johnie Rauchenberg and Jeff Autry. Autry won the only other southern sport modified feature that was ran at the track back in 2009 while Johnson has also picked up four career series feature victories, both coming last season.
Each feature event for the 2011 race season will once again pay $500 to win and $100 to start with the top ten in the current point standings receiving $25 tow money.
An added bonus, courtesy of Western Flyer sport modified chassis. Any driver who purchased a roller from Western Flyer and wins an NCRA sanctioned event in 2011 will earn an extra $1000 courtesy of Western Flyer sport modified chassis.
