CAMARGO, IL (2-18-08) by Robert Cortum - Midwest All Star Series

With the 2007 awards handed out and champions crowned the inaugural season of the O'Reilly Midwest All Star Series is in the history books. The 2008 season has taken form and has already created a buzz with local and national drivers looking to take part in the Sophomore season.

New for 2008 is a spec tire rule. All competitors will be required to throttle their machines while sporting a Hoosier SC25 while being able to shod as they like on the other 3 corners. Hoosier tire has become a familiar tire of choice for many of the drivers over the past few years. For additional rule changes for 2008, visit: www.allstarsprint.com. Rules will be the same for both the O'Reilly Midwest All Star Series and the All Star Circuit of Champions.

In 2008 fans can expect the same quality of racing that they grew to enjoy from 2007. One of the benefits to the fan base is that most of the events are within reasonable traveling distances. Fans all across the Midwest have grown to love many of the drivers including Tim and Joey Montgomery, AJ Bruns, Tiffany Wyzard, Rob and Jeremy Standridge, Tyler Thompson, Ryan Bunton, and 2007 Series champion Jerrod Hull. Most fans have seen these drivers many times on many of the tracks that will play host to series.

The combined rule book for 2008 with the All Star Circuit of Champions should aid in attracting more drivers to both sanctions. Top contenders already announcing to push the cushion in the ASCoC are the likes of 1999 Rookie of the Year Paul McMahan, 1995 & 1996 Champion Dale Blaney, and 2006 & 2007 Champion Greg Wilson. The 2007 season was the tightest points battle since the famed Co-Champion season of 1993 when Frankie Kerr and Kevin Huntley shared top honors. Danny Smith, recently seen dubbed as, "The Real Outlaw," ran a tight second a mere 2 points shy of taking the 2007 honors.

Fans wanting to add to their O'Reilly Midwest All Star Series fever can get a glimpse of what it is like riding in a sprinter. Jeremy Standridge has a couple of in-car videos on YouTube.
