Our Thoughts and Prayers goes out to the family of Scott Jackson from Los Angeles, California. Scott, with www.southwesternstockcar.com Scott attending the funeral of his Grandmother was able to check out the action of the O'Reilly MLRA as they competed in the Midwest. Be sure and check his work out sometime as he carries a large array of racing coverage on his website.

After Easternly winds pushed through the area, bringing showers to Muskogee, Oklahoma Track Owners, Gary and Teresa Clay's phone was non stop ringing. Countless calls convinced Gary to put the crews in full force working every Dozer and Grader he had on the property. For about 8 straight hours the work continued at the Outlaw Motor Speedway. Determination and the 120 plus field of cars kept everyone working as hard as they could. As the 7:30 start time approached and went crews remained at a full speed trying to make a raceable track. Both the fans and drivers was eager for the first green but the work continued.

Straight up 9 p.m. was the playing of the National Anthemn and just within minutes it was racing action for the O'Reilly MLRA. And the O'Reilly MLRA was the loud music that was being played. 3 Heats of non stop throttle set the stage for another great night for the Midwest traveling series on night 1 of their race weekend. In heat 1 it was 2 Oklahomians, Charlie Randolph and Donnie Hicks that transferred the furtherest on the track edging into the top 5 but, on the move was another Oklahoma native Mike Brown in his W-W Concrete car that took his 4th place start and in the lead on the lap that counted the most.

The second heat was a Al Purkey benefit for most of the race, although lap traffic almost cost him his bid for the win as Randy Timms would rattle the 3 time Champion of the O'Reilly MLRA series. Timms efforts would go without gain as Purkey reminded the fans why he was a three time champ as the duo battled to the end.

The third heat was Rusty Dukes on the rear spoiler of Jeff French, closing in was John Dillard and Robert Hough. As the top for crossed the line it was experience paying off with seasoned Iowan Jeff French, leading rookie Dukes under the checkered flags.

Heat 1 MIKE BROWN, CHARLIE RANDOLPH, JOE KOSISKI, ERIC ANDERON, DONNIE HICKS
Heat 2 AL PURKEY, RANDY TIMMS, BRANDON MCCORMICK, MIKE BOWERS, RAYMOND MERRILL
Heat 3 JEFF FRENCH, RUSTY DUKES, JOHN DILLARD, ROBERT HOUGH, DARYL BROWN

The B Featrure was showcased with a variety of talent which included three previous O'Reilly MLRA champions Alan Vaughn, Leslie Essary and Rex Mcroskey. With a combined six titles through the years and an additional 10 cars in a thirteen car field, After 10 laps only the top four cars were guaranteed a spot in the A feature.Of those top four cars three of them were past MLRA champions. The fourth car included 2003 rookie racer Brett Lafolette as he made the A feature transfer also. Crossing the checkers first would be Leslie Essary from Crane, Mo. Major caution would come for Dale Eaton of St. Joe, Mo. as the mud covered wall would be hard to differentiate from the track. Entering turn two his approach was high and directly in to the concrete wiping out his racer.

The Outlaw thirty lap A feature would wake up Muskogee as it started in the late hours of the evening. Two of Oklahoma fastest wold set the pace with another twenty cars behind them. On the pole was Charlie Randolph of Muskogee OK, along side him sat Mike Brown of Fort Gibson,OK, Randolphs' pole attempt would not carry him but a handful of laps as his car had an early expiration date. A couple of others in the A that should have had strong finishes included Robert Hough and Justin Fulton, but thier runs would be short lived also, making small pieces of larger pieces in thier transmissions. Under green and on the go Mike Brown and Al Purkey battled with Jeff Fench and Joe Kosiski, all for the front positions. Whle they raced under green at times fifteen to twenty cars would separate the lead two cars. The big one come later on in the race. On lap twenty six during a restart, Al Purkey's number 33 car failed to come up to speed on the front stretch. Behind him was the mess and melee that would soon occur. As Purkey dodged for cover at the top of the track the rest of the cars behind him were dodging from Purkey. For the third race in a row Rusty Dukes would recieve considerable damage. Also included Brandon McCormick, Randy Timms John Dillard, and Joe Kosiski. Duke's car would suffer the worst with a broken shock mount and a bent frame among the cosmectic damage. The second restart was smoother than the first but still had some contact from the drivers as they took the green. Within the last handful of laps Mike Brown would apply the power to pull away once again, closing in was Jeff French, Joe Kosiski and Raymond Merrill. As the leader came by for the checkered flag , it would be Mike Brown taking up his third Feature win this year at the Outlaw Motor Speedway.

After close contact with the Weather Beauru, The evening forcast was a 50 percent chance of Good Racing and a 50 percent chance of a complete No Show.
It was like a coin toss on yes and no at the same tine. The official coin used was a GOFORIT! Just after the 3rd heat race Mother Nature would take command of the track giving everybody a 10 minute shower. With 10 minutes of extra rain it took the crew of the Wheatand Raceway a little under an hour to correct the issues, and when the racing resumed for the 4th and final heat race it was definate improvement on the track, making it a little faster.

It was Pole Sitter Al Purkey pounding his fist the hardest, as he crossed under the scoring tower, recieving A Feature honors. Behind him was Rex McCroskey and David Turner within Blankets reach. Mike Brown was trying to make a double win night but fell up short by about 3 positions. After Jason Bodenhammer claimed his first A Feature win in a Modified he too was looking forwards to a strong run but would have to settle for another Top 5 with the O'Reilly MLRA series.
