Four yellow flags couldn't stop the man from Belton Missouri Saturday night "All week I just felt ready for this win" stated Alan Vaughn the reinging O'Reilly MLRA Champion.

"We did real good at Wheatland last time we were here so I was looking forward to this race" stated Vaughn while celebrating Sunday evening with one of his sponsors Joel Kokoska of Weld Racing at the local Hooter's in Overland Park, Kansas.

Vaughn and his Rocket by Rocket - Smitty's Racing Engines, Helt's Turf Farm, Super Clean Pluming, Bates County Heating and Cooling rig started on the front row with high point leader of the night Al Purkey. "The last time we raced at Wheatland we won" Purkey stated earlier in the week "Wheatland's always been good to us" Purkey concluded. Tonight was no different as won his Heat Race leading it wire to wire.

At the drop of the Green Flag it was truly a drag race between the two O'Reilly MLRA Champions with Vaughn getting the nod as they crossed the line. Purkey was followed by Jason Bodenhamer, David Barker and C.J.Lyle for the first five laps.

By the eleventh lap the leaders were still Vaughn, Purkey, Bodenhamer, Barker and Lyle. Gary Webb got around Larry Jones. Coming down for the 15th lap Vaughn was using lap traffic to mix it up with Purkey. Randy Reynolds followed by Kevin Kaiser were the blockers then Purkey. Bodenhamer was having to deal with Dale Eaton and Barker was marking time with Lyle Webb and Jones to follow.

The first caution came out with the steering broke on the #63 of Dale Eaton on lap 16. On the restart once more Vaughn pulled Purkey Bodenhamer buy CJ Lyle managed to get the jump on David Barker. CJ Lyle began his move on Bodenhamer and as they came down for the 18th lap it was Lyle in 3rd once more Bodenhamer got around Lyle for the 19th lap and these two continued to swap 3rd and 4th at the half way mark of the 40 lap feature it was Lyle back in 3rd. As Alan Vaughn completed the 23 lap

Al Purkey found himself once more with a mechanical problem, bringing out the yellow flag with a broken spindle. This would move CJ Lyle up to second for the restart only this time
Vaughn chose the inside line. As the two crossed the flag for the 25 lap it was Vaughn Lyle and Bodenhamer followed by Barker, and Jones. Larry Jones who is from Eldorado Springs
had not run with the MLRA racers this season was really doing a great job. With just ten laps to go Vaughn still had Lyle right behind him. Barker and Bodenhamer were racy in all the corners. Jones continued to show the way to Daniel Anders Sonny Findling Webb and Brett LaFollette were in front of Rookie contender T.J.Kuykendall rounded out the top ten.

The third yellow would fly for Brian Allison but both Essary's would retire Shane with no brakes and Leslie with a broken A Arm. On the 35th lap once more it was Vaughn using the inside line on Lyle, Barker, Bodenhamer Jones, then Findling, LaFollette, and the double zero of Chad Clark, Webb, Kuykendall still holding on to the tenth spot.

With four more laps to go the fourth yellow flew for Sonny Findling. Once more using that inside line Vaughn took it to the checkers. C.J.Lyle had a good night and David Barker would earn enough points to get around an absent David Turner for 4th in the current point standings. Jason Bodenhamer finished 4th after almost flipping the night before at Bolivar and is still in the hunt with just thirty points behind Alan Vaughn. Brett LaFollette managed a good fifth place finish and Larry Jones just had a good night all the way around with a third in his heat and a 6th in the feature.
