Grain Valley, MO (July 17, 2024) - Fresh off of a pair of USRA American Racer Modified Series Presented by Day Motor Sports shows last weekend in Oklahoma and Texas, this weekend finds the series once again in the Sooner State. Friday originates from Outlaw Motor Speedway, just outside of Muskogee, Oklahoma. Saturday shifts to Tri State Speedway in Pocola, Oklahoma.
With a pair of top ten runs last weekend, Spiro, Oklahoma's Sam Osman currently is holding down the fourth place position in the points standings. The two events this weekend will be the closest all season to his home.
“We started off pretty slow,” said Osman of his beginning of the year. “We came back home and raced locally. We figured some things out and made some gains. It's a different caliber running a series, but we are getting there.”
He has been on both tracks earlier this year as well. Osman has knocked down a pair of top tens at Tri State and a sixth at Outlaw.
“We went and won the heat a couple weeks back at Outlaw and had a good night,” Osman further elaborated. “At Tri State we just never seem to have any luck. Hopefully this weekend we will be a little better. I'm close with Tyler Wolff and he's really helping on setup things, so it's been a little better.”
His path to where he is currently is a little out of the norm. Prior to starting again in 2023, Osman last competed in 2013.
“I raced right out of school and then took 10 years off. I looked at the HMT and ARMS, the ARMS series was closer and it had more familiar tracks. It just seemed to fit me. We wanted to run a series, and I have to thank Brett and Tyler Wolff for all of their help to keep me going.”
Friday at Outlaw Motor Speedway, the track will honor two legends of the sport. Dan Leatherman and Bob Disheroon. Both men have been instrumental not only to the track, but racing in the region. They are naming the event the “Icon.”
Saturday is a reschedule from earlier in the season at Tri State Speedway. New owners Jake and Kelsie Davis are in their first full season at the helm. They have graciously added aver $2,500 to the standard event purse. The show will pay $2,500 to win and $350 to start. The USRA ARMS Presented by Day Motor Sports is thrilled to be bringing USRA Modified racing to both tracks this weekend!
Both races this weekend will be live on RacinDirt.tv for those unable to be at the track.
