Paducah International Raceway’s 2006 Champions Honored at Harrah’s Metropolis Casino & Hotel

(From the Paducah Sun Media Tower) The areas best racers, families and sponsors assembled at Harrah’s Metropolis Hotel and Casino to recognize the champions for Paducah International Raceway’s 2006 Inaugural season.

After a Social hour, the guests were treated to a dinner of Ham and Turkey with all of the trimmings followed by cheesecake for desert.

PIR co-owners Ken Schrader and Bob Sargent welcomed everyone to the banquet and thanked everyone for their support. Schrader told the crowd how he would like to be back to race and pick up a trophy of his own for a win. PIR General Manager Jeff Bruhn recapped the 2006 season as very successful despite the frustrating weather and the floods of September. Bruhn also went on to thank Mercy Emergency Medical Services, the Hendron Fire Department, along with Meadows and Van Zandt Towing for their dedication to keeping the drivers and Fans Safe.

Bruhn started off the awards portion of the event by presenting PIR track workers Mike VanCura and Jim Magill jackets for their service and dedication throughout the year. The awards banquet emceed by track announcers Mark Hall and Shawn “The Bear” Parker presented 66 trophies to the top ten drivers in each of the 6 classes that raced at Paducah International Raceway and the Rookies of the year. Rookies of the year included, Adam Elliott (Warriors), Jeff McIntosh (Mini-Sprints), Chris Shinn (Street Stock), George Herter (Pepsi Modifieds), Tanner English (Harrah’s Crate Late Models), and Rusty Griffaw (Chevrolet Late Models).
