PEORIA —
The high side came through for Steve Lance Jr. and Mark Johnson again on Saturday night at Peoria Speedway. Lance used the high side and a mistake by his brother, Tim, to win his fourth consecutive Late Model feature. Johnson, meanwhile, swooped from fourth to first to win his second consecutive Modified feature. In the Late Model feature, Tim Lance quickly overtook Steve Lance, who started on the pole, and the two pulled away from the rest of the field. "I wasn't going to catch him without a mistake or lapped traffic, " Steve Lance said. That mistake came near the halfway point, when Tim Lance jumped the cushion in turns three and four, costing him all his momentum. "I saw that and thought there's my opening," Steve Lance said. "I felt kind of bad passing my brother, but I'm pretty sure he would do the same to me. "The high side has been very good to us recently. It's a momentum deal."

Johnson and Erik Bruce, meanwhile, took advantage of a pitched battle for the lead between Casey Lapin and Billy Tuckwell to slide almost unnoticed around the pair near the midway point of the Modified feature. Bruce briefly held the lead before bowing out with mechanical problems. "We were decent down low, but there were other cars that were better," Johnson said. "But up high, I knew we had a chance. "When I saw those guys dive for the bottom, I knew I had an opening."

Jason Weyeneth overcame an accident in his Sportsman heat race to win the feature. He started the feature on the pole and led wire-to-wire. "I wasn't sure we would have the car ready," Weyeneth said. "We lost the radiator and had a lot of body damage, but the car was awesome. "This was the best that this car has been all year."

Street Stock winner Scott Schoenner and Hornet winner Jonathan Schuck Sr. each dedicated their wins to their fathers, Frank Schoenner and Frank Schuck Sr. Both men were hospitalized and unable to make it.
It was Schoenner's second consecutive feature victory and Schuck's first victory in more than two years at the Speedway.
