CLARKSVILLE, TN – Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, MS has joined the StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series for the 2006 season. Drivers in the Pike County Speedway Crate Late Model Division will also be competing against drivers at weekly tracks across the country for StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series Regional and National points.

The StormPay.com Weekly Racing Series features economical engines produced by GM Performance and sealed at factory. The steel-head “602” engine sells for $2,800, and the aluminum-head “604” engine sells for $4,800.

Race cars using the 602 engine weigh 2,200 pounds, and get a 150 pound weight break over the race cars using the 604 engine that must weigh 2,350 pounds. These engines are race-ready right out of the crate from the factory.

“J.F. Gasquet has some big plans in the works at Pike County Speedway, and we’re proud to be involved with their weekly program,” StormPay.com Series Director Mike Vaughn said. “We’re looking at bringing our StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Tour to Pike County Speedway, and we should be able to announce a date for that event in the near future.”

Vaughn said Pike County Speedway Technical Director David Ebey was instrumental in bringing the track and the series together. Ebey is a big supporter of dirt late models powered by crate engines.

“In my opinion, the StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series will be the greatest thing to hit this area in quite some time,” Ebey said. “I think this class will be an overwhelming success at Pike County Speedway. There is so much interest in this class that people that wanted to be able to run a late model, but could not afford the super late model engine package. Now that dream can be a reality. This type series will put everyone on the same page now, and makes the class what it should be - the man or women behind the wheel, and car set up against the same. It’s not who has more money than the other.
