POPLAR BLUFF - (Oct. 15, 2005) The Poplar Bluff Speedway handed out their season awards for the 2005 racing season Saturday night.

LATE MODEL POINTS CHAMPION - SCOTT BELL, II - East Prairie, MO
Sixteen year old, Scott has been racing for two years. He has raced in 20 features at PBS this year. He has received one Third Place, two Fifth Place, and five Sixth Place wins. Scott started racing in the Pure Street class in 2003. He currently drives the #45 Late Model car.

He is a student at East Prairie High School and is the son of Scott I and Kathy Bell. His younger brother Aaron also races at PBS. Scott is highly supported by his family.

Scott's racecar is a 2001 Rayburn with a Jay Dickens Engine.

2005 MODIFIED POINTS CHAMPION - TIM RADFORD - Piedmont, MO
Tim drives the #10R Modified and has competed in 22 feature races at PBS this year. These include one First Place, one Fourth Place, and five Fifth Place wins. Tim has raced six seasons. In 2000, he began his racing career in the Super Street Hobby class. For many years, prior to stockcar racing, Tim was an avid drag racer. He spends his work week as a Cable Tech Supervisor. Evenings are spent in the garage with his 2005/2006 Hoffman Chassis and his very-own self-built Ford racing engine which includes Danny Robinson heads.

Tim is greatly supported by his family. He and his wife Connie have two children Dalton and Paige. Ronnie Radford, Tim's father, acts as his crew chief.

2005 SUPER STREET POINTS CHAMPION - JASON PENNINGTON - Qulin, MO
Jason started his exciting racing career in 1998. Throughout the seven years, he has competed in Cruiser, Pure Street, and Super Street classes. At the present time, Jason drives the 21jp Super Street car. His son Eric drives the 21jr Pure Street. Jason is employed by Gates Rubber. He resides at Qulin, MO with his wife, Dana and sons - Eric and Lane.

Jason builds and rebuilds the bodies, motors, rearends, and transmissions for his car. Wayne Joplin helps Jason with the chassis'. His car has a L&B Racing Engine.

He started racing in the Pure Street class in 2002. He currently drives the #97 Pure Street car. Paul has a very supportive family including his wife Paula; sons - Matt, Zach, & Brandon; and parents - Doug & Paula Reeder. They reside at Malden, MO. He is employed as a Class 1A Commercial Applicator. Paul spends many hours in his race shop working to improve this 1979 Camero. His car has a JR Motorsport Engine.

The Poplar Bluff Speedway will be hosting a special three-day racing event that will feature a Modified feature race paying the winner $6,060! The event, known as the Modified Summer 60, is a 60-lap feature race using IMCA rules (except motor claim).

The event is scheduled for October 20-22 with Thursday, Oct. 20th being an open practice night from 4-9 p.m. Racing actually begins on Friday, Oct. 21st in all classes. Besides the Modifieds, the Pure Street class has a $1,000 to win feature race on both Friday and Saturday night (with a $200 bonus if you win both features). The Cruisers will also be participating in the event with $300 going to the winner on Friday and Saturday nights (with a $100 bonus to win both nights).
