POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Poplar Bluff Speedway will be hosting a special three-day racing event that will feature a Modified feature race paying the winner $6,060! The event, known as the Modified Summer 60, is a 60-lap feature race using IMCA rules (except motor claim).
The event is scheduled for October 20-22 with Thursday, Oct. 20th being an open practice night from 4-9 p.m. Racing actually begins on Friday, Oct. 21st in all classes. Besides the Modifieds, the Pure Street class has a $1,000 to win feature race on both Friday and Saturday night (with a $200 bonus if you win both features). The Cruisers will also be participating in the event with $300 going to the winner on Friday and Saturday nights (with a $100 bonus to win both nights).
The Modified class 60-lap feature will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22nd. Modifieds must qualify on Friday night to be eligible for the Saturday feature. No exceptions! All Saturday cars who don't make the feature will receive $100. Event order is subject to change due to actual car count. Monies will remain the same.
Rules for the Modified class include a $500 motor exchange, Berts & Brinns are OK, 2,350 pound weight limit, 1 1/2 roll cage is OK, aluminum tops are OK, rear drive pumps are OK, no spoilers and aluminum heads are OK with 50 pounds added in front of engine plate.
The entry fee for the Modified class is $175. There is no entry fee for the Pure Street and the Cruiser classes.
On Friday, pit gate opens at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. Pit passes are $25. On Saturday, pit gate opens at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 6 and racing at 7. Pit passes are $30.
There is NO admission to the grandstand on Thursday with grandstand admission $10 for adults on Friday and Saturday. Kids ages 6-11 is only $5 both nights with kids age 5 & under admitted free.
