Malden, Mo – March 19, 2010 – Former Malden Speedway track Champion, Robert Powers from nearby Campbell, Missouri bested the USCS Modified Touring Series K&N Filters Pole Night portion of the 4th annual Bootheel 200 at Malden Speedway on Friday night. Powers benefited from 2009 USCS Modified Champion Hunter Rasdons misfortunes to start in the pole position for the Aero Race Wheels First heat. Powers then led all 10 laps to victory lane to place himself on the K&N Filters Pole for Saturday’s $2000 to win 30-lap Modified A-main.

Rasdon set the fastest USCS Modified time of the evening with a lap of 17.02 seconds around the well groomed 3/8 mile clay oval. He then was a no show for the heat race after discovering he had blown his engine laying down the fast lap. This moved powers forward one row to the pole position.

2008 USCS Modified Champion, Ashley Newman from Ripley, Tennessee who won the 2009 “Bootheel 200” Modified race followed Powers across the finish line. The 2008 and 2009 Malden Speedway track Champion Paul Reeder from Malden, MO finished in the third position and Craig Vaughn from Hernando, Mississippi secured the final transfer spot for Saturday’s A-main.

Chris Moore from Nesbit, Mississippi captured a hard fought win in the R.H.S. (Racing Head Service) Second Heat over 2006 series Champion Ben Reed from Munford, Tennessee who finished in the runner-up spot. Austin Matthews from Dexter, Missouri finished in third place and 2007 Bootheel 200 Modified Champion, Troy Fowler from Portageville, Missouri grabbed the final A-main transfer spot by finishing in fourth position.

Brad Buck from Paragould, Arkansas raced to the win in the 10-lap Comp Cams Third Heat. Jacob Cooper from Paragould, Arkansas finshed in the runner-up spot followed by Blake Burns from Jonesboro, Arkansas in third place. Jacob Davis from Millersville, Missouri in the final transfer spot to Saturday’s A-Main.
