FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (May 13, 2003) The Racing Association of Mini Stocks (RAMS) will open it's 2003 Points Series in a big way this weekend (May 16-18) with a pair of races and a car show.
Following the association's regular night of racing at the Fredericktown Raceway on Friday night (May 16), the RAMS will be at the Convenience Barn on Ste. Genevieve Ave. in Farmington for their first annual car show from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday (May 17). That evening the RAMS will open their 2003 Point Series at the St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington. The largest field of RAMS ever (approximately 25 cars/light trucks) is expected to participate in the season-opening event. The RAMS will also be using the newly constructed "smaller" track SFCR officials constructed earlier this season. It will be $5 Night at SFCR so there should be a large crowd on hand to help kick-off the season. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7.
Then on Sunday (May 18), the Fredericktown Azalea Racefest will take place at the Fredericktown Raceway and the RAMS will be there for their second Point Series race. The event was originally scheduled for May 4th, but was rained out. The gates for the Racefest will open at 3 p.m. with racing around 4:30. Also making their first-ever appearance during the Racefest will be the Hornets and the Wannabees along with the Pure Streets and an amateur ATV group. Admission that day will only be $3 plus a couple of cans of food for the Madison County Food Bank (or $5 without the food).
