MINERAL WELLS, W. Va. (October 19, 2002) - Persistent rain showers Saturday forced officials to postpone the Renegade DirtCar Racing Series sanctioned $30,000 to win "Charter Communications RaceFest World Championship 100" at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells,WV to Sunday, October 20.
95 drivers signed in for the $120,000 plus purse and warm-up sessions were completed before light rain showers moved over the high-banked 5/8ths mile track. Attempts were made to groom the racing surface back into shape but the light rain persisted and after waiting for nearly 5 hours for the rain to subside the decision was reached to postpone the event.
Gates will open at 8:00 am Sunday with racing action beginning at 12:30 pm with the West Virginia State Championship Shoot-Out followed by a complete program of CARRERA SHOCKS "Challenge the Clock" time trials, BRODIX,INC. heat races, MASTERSBILT RACE CARS "B" Mains and the ISKY RACING CAMS dash prior to the running of the "Charter Communications RaceFest World Championship 100".
Also on the card will be heat races, a "C" Main, "B" Main and feature event for the AMRA Modifieds and qualifying races and a feature event for the Street Stocks.
