FARMINGTON, Mo. -- (Sept. 24, 2005) The 2005 regular season at the St. Francois County Raceway came to an abrupt end Saturday night when the feature races were all rained out. Due to the fact all the heat races had been run the event was considered complete and drivers were paid based on their starting lineup in the feature in all five classes.
Here are the results from the heat races.
In the Sprint Car class, Steve Short of Farmington won the first heat race with Dustin Adams second and Greg Burns third. Joey Montgomery won the second heat with Ricky Logan second and Gary Altig third. Jimmy Hurley won the third heat race with Timmy Montgomery second and Bret Samonds third. Tyler Thompson won the fourth heat with Bob Thoman second and Daniel Adler third. Short also won the trophy dash with Joey Montgomery second and Timmy Montgomery third.
In the Modified class, Kasey Burch won the first heat with John Bohn second and Tommy Worley Sr. third. Alan Conner won the second heat with Leo Kiefer second and Brent Thompson third. Mike Francis (2005 track champion) won the third heat with Kenny Kennedy second and Chris Boyd third.
In the Sportsmen class, Kevin Mosier won the first heat race with Leonard Betsch second and Randy Forster third. Jeremy Greenwalt won the second heat with Kent Nations second and Doug Savage third. Matt Eaton was the 2005 class champion.
In the Pure Street class, 2005 track champ Mark Todd won the first heat with Mike Abney second and Mike Savage third. Bill Skaggs won the second heat with Tommy Worley Sr. second and Chris Boyd third.
In the 600cc Multi class, Jimmy Bridgeman won the first heat with Jimmy Stearns second and Joey Boyd third. Derek King won the second heat with Tom Dickerman second and Brandon Bundren third.
There is a tie for first place in the Multi class for the top spot so they are going back and recounting the points throughout the season to check for errors. A tie-breaker will be used in case it ends in a tie.
Racing at the St. Francois County Raceway will conclude this Saturday night with the annual Queen's Royale. The sprint car extravaganza will feature some of the top sprint car drivers from across the country with $5,000 on the line for first place (not including additional lap money for leading one of the 30-lap feature event). The Modifieds and the Multis will also be participating.
Racers who participated in last Saturday night's rain-shortened program can pick up their checks at the pay window Saturday night.
For more information on the Queen's Royale or SFCR visit the track's website at www.sfcr.net or phone (573) 438-4546.
