(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Brasstown, North Carolina driver Ray Cook traveled to the Peachtree State of Georgia over the May 7-8 Mother's Day holiday weekend and walked away with two victories and an additional runner-up finish! His busy weekend started on Friday night at the Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. Ray was the fastest qualifier in his group during Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) qualifying and later started third on the grid in the A-Main. The driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" then piloted his D&R Motorsports #53 MasterSbilt / R.E.D. entry to a strong runner-up performance in the $3,000 to win affair behind winner Skip Arp. Ray also competed in the Crate Late Model portion of the program and drove T.J. Hunt's #16 racecar into victory lane at Boyd's!

Next up was a trip to the North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday evening, as the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) rolled into town. Ray laid down the fastest lap in SAS time trials to earn the pole position for the 50-lap main event. He then controlled each and every circuit of the A-Main to record his sixth feature win and the $5,000 top prize over Randy Weaver, Skip Arp, Derek Ellis, and Freddy Smith. Complete results from both shows can be accessed online at www.boydsspeedway.com and www.northgaspeedway.net.

"It was a good to get back on track last weekend at Boyd's and North Georgia," quoted Cook this week via telephone. "We got two wins and a runner-up finish in three different cars and we were as good at Boyd's as we have been in awhile. I am encouraged about all of that and hopefully we can get back to running up front with the Lucas Oil Series. It seems like we have been snake bitten at those races lately, but Wythe presents an opportunity this Saturday to get things turned around and have a good points night."

The D&R Motorsports team's next event will be this Saturday night, May 15 at the Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction their first-ever race at Wythe on Saturday and a $10,000 paycheck is up for grabs. Ray comes into the one-day, standalone event ninth in the latest version of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series point standings.
