(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook made a last minute decision and slipped into North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday night, March 2 for the Ultimate Super Late Model Series season opener. A strong field of 29 competitors were on the grounds at the northern Georgia oval to vie for the $4,000 winner's check.

Ray, who was piloting his own Capital racecar, started off the evening by posting the seventh quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session. After grabbing the fifth transfer spot in his B-Main, Ray rolled off from the outside of the tenth row in the 40-lap main event. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace then steered his #53 machine - that was powered by a 525 motor - by seven competitors during the distance to claim a thirteenth place showing. Full results from North Georgia Speedway can be accessed online at www.ultimatesupers.com.

The popular driver known as "The Tarheel Tiger" and his self-owned team will sit idle over the upcoming March 8-9 weekend, but will return to competition on Saturday evening, March 16 back in the Peach State of Georgia. The annual running of the 'Southeastern Classic' will be held at the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia and the unsanctioned Super Late Model special will boast a $5,000 payday.
