(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The D&R Motorsports team and driver Ray Cook headed to the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 19-20 for the 32nd Annual 'Dirt Track World Championship.' A total of 94 competitors converged on PRP for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series finale, which boasted a hefty $50,000 payday and attracted the high-definition cameras of the Lucas Oil Production Studios. After Mother Nature took the victory on Friday night, the entire crown jewel event was condensed into a one-day affair starting Saturday afternoon.

Ray qualified fourteenth quickest in Group B during time trials and later placed fourth in his loaded heat race and third in his consolation race; both finishes were one spot out of a coveted transfer position. The Brasstown, North Carolina driver then emerged victorious in the 'Jim Dunn Memorial' for non-qualifiers and opted to start the DTWC from the tail instead of taking the $3,000 winnings. After rolling off from the inside of the fourteenth row in the 100-lapper, Ray blitzed past sixteen competitors to finish a steady eleventh in the final rundown. Complete results from Portsmouth can be viewed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

The #53 team is now scheduled to spend a couple of weekends away from the racetrack prior to the 38th edition of the ‘National 100.’ The unsanctioned biggie at the East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama will be held on November 10-11. Qualifying and heat race action is scheduled for Saturday at EAMS, while the consolation races and the 100-lap ‘National 100’ are slated for Sunday. A $20,000 top prize will be on the line and an additional $5,000 will be posted in lap money. Ray earned a strong top ten performance in last year’s version of the ‘National 100,’ as he crossed underneath the checkers in the ninth spot.
