Springfield Raceway officials announced today that Reliable Chevrolet has increased their involvement with the ¼ mile dirt oval. The 2011 season will mark the 3rd consecutive season Reliable has been the Title Sponsor of the Sport Modified division and official retail partner of the GM crate engine that are legal to compete in the class. Reliable will be offering prize money incentives to the teams that utilize the 602 GM Crate Engine as the power plant for their Sport Modified cars. Competitors using 602 Engines purchased from Reliable will be able to earn an additional $400 per race in prize money. The top finishing drivers with a Reliable purchased engine will be distributed with $150 to highest finisher, $100 to the 2nd highest finisher and $50 to the 3rd highest finishing crate engine. If the teams are running a 602 engine that was not purchased from Reliable they will receive 50% of the bonus money per finishing position. Then an additional $100 will be paid to the highest finishing 602 Engine purchased from Reliable.

For example, if a driver purchased his 602 GM crate engine from Reliable and was the highest finishing crate engine car, then that driver would receive an additional $250 over and above the standard weekly prize money for that specific finishing position. If a driver is competing with a 602 engine that was not purchased from Reliable Chevrolet and was the highest finishing crate car then they would receive $75 in additional prize money or (50% of $150) and is not eligible for the extra $100 bonus money.

Doug Bland, co-owner of Springfield Raceway said “The Reliable program is great for the teams that see the value utilizing the less expensive GM crate engine, but also pays out bonus money to the teams that support their efforts by purchasing their engines from them”. “They went the extra step by even offering teams that purchased their engine elsewhere a chance to earn 50% of the bonus money”. Bland went on to say “with cost associated with racing going up each year it is refreshing to see a local company like Reliable step up and support local racing in the Ozarks.”

Teams interested in the 602 GM Crate engine should contact Jason Ulven at Reliable (417)887- 5800. Springfield Raceway will start its 2011 season on Saturday March 19th with the “March Madness Race” featuring Late Models. Modifieds, Sport Mods & Midwest Modz.
