Renegade Series Geared Up for Winternationals!

APPLE CREEK, Ohio (Jan. 21, 2003) - The Renegade DirtCar Racing Series will start up the 2003 racing season sanctioning three nights of the six-night "27th Annual Late Model Winternationals" at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa (Gibsonton),FL. The Renegades action will start Monday, Feb. 3 with a 40 lap - $5,000 to win main event and continue with a 50 lap - $7,000 to win feature Wednesday, Feb. 5 and conclude Friday, Feb. 7 with a 100 lap - $12,000 to win feature event . Over $120,000 in total purse money has been posted by East Bay Raceway Park promoters 2 VHL Promotions,Inc. The Feb. 4, 6 and 8 "Winternationals" programs will be sanctioned by the Xtreme DirtCar Racing Series.

A complete program of CARRERA SHOCKS "Challenge the Clock" time trials, BRODIX,INC. heat races, MASTERSBILT RACE CARS "B" Mains and the ISKY RACING CAMS dash will be held each night prior to the running of the feature event.

Pit gates will open at 2:30 pm, spectator gates at 5:00 pm with warm-ups scheduled for 5:30pm followed immediately by time trials with racing to start at 7:00pm.

The 2003 "Winternationals" will mark the tenth time that the Renegade DirtCar Racing Series has appeared at the lightning quick semi-banked 1/3rd mile. Twenty-five previous feature races have been contested at East Bay Raceway Park with 15 drivers taking victories.

Don O'Neal of Martinsville,IN is the all-time RDRS feature winner at East Bay Raceway Park with five wins, including a clean sweep of the three 2002 Renegades main events at East Bay Raceway Park. Ashland,KY's Steve Francis, the 1996, 1997 and 1998 Renegade champion, has three feature wins to his credit. Drivers with two wins apiece include 1993 and 1994 series champion Davey Johnson of Greensburg,PA as well as Batesville,AR driver Billy Moyer, Rick Aukland of Zanesville,OH and Keith Nosbisch of Valrico,FL.

Earning single wins at East Bay Raceway Park have been Mike Balzano of Parkersburg,WV, the 1989 and 1990 Renegade champion. Others include Steve Shaver of Vienna,WV; Booper Bare of Rockbridge Baths,VA; Gary Stuhler of Greencastle,PA; Elk Mound,WI driver Jimmy Mars; Wendell Wallace of Batesville,AR; Dan Schlieper of Pewaukee,WI; Brasstown,NC driver Ray Cook and second generation driver Jackie Boggs of Grayson,KY.

Single-day general admission tickets are $30.00, $35.00 and $40.00 (children 12 years of age and under are 1/2 price) and pit admission is $35.00, $40.00 and $45.00 respectively for the February 3, 5 and 7 Renegades events. A three-day general admission ticket for the Renegades events is $100.00 and a six-day general admission ticket for all of the Renegades and UDTRA events is $200.00. General admission tickets can be upgraded to pit admission for the difference of the pit admission.

East Bay Raceway Park is located in Gibsonton,FL south of Tampa,FL on Interstate 75 to exit #250, then 2.0 miles west, then 1.2 miles north on U.S. Route 41, then northeast 1.3 miles on Old U.S. Route 41, then east on Burts Road.
