BONNE TERRE, Mo. -- (Aug. 9, 2003) Steve Barton of Bonne Terre battled 13 other competitors in the Vehicle ET class Saturday night at Big River Sand Drags and captured first place. But then in the top eliminator race he faced 14-year-old Josh Harris of Belgrade and the youngster came out victorious.
In other classes, Todd Dee was first in the Off Road Modified class with James Womble second.
In Stock Buggy, Frank Shinault of Hillsboro was the top eliminator and first place winner while Adam Smith of Mineral Point captured second place.
In Open 4x4, Terry Wies of Wentzville was the top eliminator and first place winner while Chris Mackley of Bonne Terre finished in second place.
In Junior ATV, Bethany Glore of Park Hills was the top eliminator and first place winner while Whitney Dee of Leadwood captured second place.
In ATV-1, Chad Cain of Bonne Terre was first, but it was second place winner Josh Hayes of Pilot Knob taking the top eliminator race.
In Pro ATV, Rick Finney of St. Louis stretched his points lead by taking first place and top eliminator honors with Archie Camden of Bonne Terre finishing in second place.
In Super Pro ATV, Doug Brown and Mark Dickens (both of Bloomsdale) finished first and second respectively, but it was Brown sailing away with the top eliminator race.
Racing action at Big River Sand Drags continues this Saturday night. Gates open at 3 p.m. with time trials at 4, registration ends at 6 and racing at 7. For more information phone (573) 358-5009.
